Company

Company overview

Enerpac Tool Group Corp. helps industrial customers lift heavy loads, tighten bolts and maintain equipment using controlled force and movement. It designs and supplies tools and heavy-lifting systems under brands including ENERPAC and HYDRATIGHT, serving customers such as refineries, manufacturers, power generators and infrastructure operators.

Product sales bring in most of its revenue, primarily through a global distributor network, with some direct sales to equipment makers and end users. Customers also pay for technicians to carry out bolting, machining and joint-integrity work, or rent tools rather than buy them.

The business depends on customers’ industrial projects and maintenance spending, and on distributors’ customer relationships; no single customer dominates sales. Manufacturing is mainly assembly of components supplied to its specifications by a global supplier network, with some components coming from a single source. Its international sales must comply with export controls and economic sanctions, which limit where and to whom it can sell.

  • Ingersoll Rand competes for spending by industrial users and distributors that also buy Enerpac’s mechanical tools and lifting solutions, selling them power tools and lifting equipment. Its tool and lifting sales are the part to watch for clues to demand facing Enerpac.

  • Snap-on competes for tool spending in power generation and natural-resource markets where Enerpac sells hydraulic and mechanical tools and maintenance services. Watch its Commercial & Industrial Group, which sells professional tools and engineered solutions to these customers, rather than its vehicle-repair tool business.

  • Applied Industrial Technologies draws on the same industrial maintenance and equipment budgets that support Enerpac’s tools and services, selling operators motion-control and fluid-power products and repairs. Its sales of maintenance products and repair services offer a read on customers’ willingness to spend on keeping equipment running.

  • Lincoln Electric shares exposure to manufacturers and industrial users that buy its welding and cutting equipment and use Enerpac tools for fabrication, assembly and maintenance. Its welding sales to those customers offer a clue to the industrial activity supporting Enerpac’s tool demand.

  • Graco and Enerpac both depend on manufacturers’ equipment and maintenance budgets: Graco sells industrial fluid-handling and lubrication equipment, while Enerpac sells tools that apply force. Graco also has substantial paint-contractor exposure, so its overall results are a less direct guide to Enerpac’s industrial demand.
