Company

Company overview

EuroDry Ltd.’s ships carry iron ore, coal, grain and other dry cargoes worldwide. It mainly rents ships to charterers for an agreed period, an arrangement called a time charter. The charterer pays hire, chooses the loading and discharge ports and covers fuel and other voyage expenses; EuroDry generally pays crew costs. All its revenue comes from vessel charters, rather than selling the commodities it carries.

Earnings depend on keeping ships employed and the charter rates they earn. Short-term contracts and rates linked to market indexes leave revenue exposed to changes in commodity shipping demand and the supply of competing vessels. A small group of charterers supplies most revenue, with Oldendorff a particularly large customer.

EuroDry has no employees and relies entirely on Eurobulk and Eurobulk FE to arrange charters and manage crewing, maintenance and repairs. Its ships must retain classification certification and pass required inspections to carry cargo. Environmental rules also constrain operations and can require equipment changes.

EuroDry’s results hinge on drybulk charter rates and major charterers such as Oldendorff, which supplied 30% of its 2025 revenue but is absent from this list.

  • Globus Maritime Limited competes with EuroDry for customers paying to ship bulk cargoes, with similarly sized fleets and overlapping Ultramax vessels. Watch the prices Globus secures for those vessels, especially on longer charters, for a read on EuroDry’s rental market.

  • Star Bulk Carriers Corp. competes with EuroDry for worldwide bulk-cargo charters, including Ultramax work, so both face the same pressure on ship rental rates. Its bookings with iron ore miners, utilities and commodity traders offer a view of the cargo demand behind those rates.

  • Genco Shipping & Trading competes with EuroDry for paying customers moving drybulk cargoes worldwide, including grain carried by Ultramax vessels. Its Ultramax and Supramax business carrying grain, steel products and other minor bulks is the part to watch for demand relevant to EuroDry.

  • Safe Bulkers, Inc. competes with EuroDry for charterers paying to transport coal, grain and iron ore worldwide. The daily rent customers agree to pay on its new time charters gives a concrete comparison for the rates EuroDry can seek as its contracts renew.

  • Diana Shipping, Inc. competes with EuroDry to rent drybulk ships to customers for a set period, with earnings resetting as contracts expire. Watch the daily hire on Diana’s replacement time charters: customers typically pay a fixed daily rate, making new contracts a useful guide to EuroDry’s renewal prospects.

  • Costamare Bulkers Holdings Limited and EuroDry both collect rent from drybulk charterers through short-term contracts and contracts whose rent follows market indexes, exposing both to current freight rates. Watch Costamare’s owned-fleet charter hire and any agreements to switch index-linked rent to fixed rates.

  • United Maritime Corporation and EuroDry rent drybulk ships to customers worldwide, and rent tied to freight indexes exposes both to changing market rates. United reported that all its vessels earned index-linked hire at the date of its annual report, making that rental income a useful gauge of market conditions affecting EuroDry’s index-linked contracts.

  • Navios Maritime Partners L.P. competes with EuroDry for drybulk ship rentals, but also earns substantial revenue from customers moving containers and oil, so its overall results are a less direct comparison. Watch its drybulk charter revenue separately, particularly the business still exposed to market rates rather than fixed contracts.
