DLH Holdings Corp. helps U.S. federal agencies modernize and protect IT systems, conduct health research and run health and defense programs. It also supports the Department of Veterans Affairs’ mail outpatient pharmacy program. It wins most of its work through competitive bidding as the prime contractor, responsible directly to the agency. Its largest source of revenue is payment for hours worked and materials supplied; other contracts pay a fixed price or reimburse costs plus a fee.
Almost all revenue comes from the federal government. The Department of Health and Human Services is its largest customer, followed by Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense. The business depends on funding for these agencies’ programs and on winning and retaining their contracts.
Some federal procurements reserve prime contracts for eligible small businesses, including service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, leaving DLH ineligible to bid as prime and potentially limited to subcontracting. These restrictions have already shifted work away from DLH: its Head Start monitoring contract ended and moved to unrelated contractors, while VA pharmacy work has also been transitioning through procurements reserved for eligible veteran-owned firms.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
DLH's results hinge on HHS, VA and DoD contract awards and procurements reserved for small businesses; CACI and SAIC are additional federal-services rivals to watch beyond this list.
Leidos competes with DLH for technology-services contracts paid for by federal health, civilian and defense agencies. Watch its Health & Civil contract awards for a view of competition facing DLH; U.S. government contracts generated 87% of Leidos's fiscal 2025 revenue.
ICF International, Inc. competes with DLH for government spending on health and social-program consulting, analytics, digital services and program delivery. Its health and social-program awards are the relevant news for DLH holders, rather than its work for energy and commercial clients.
Booz Allen competes with DLH to sell digital modernization, cybersecurity and engineering services to federal agencies, including the VA. Watch its VA business: that agency was Booz Allen's largest civil government customer and supplied 10% of fiscal 2026 revenue, while it supplied 33.8% of DLH's fiscal 2025 revenue.
Everforth, Inc. competes with DLH through ECS, which sells cybersecurity, cloud and digital-modernization services to government customers. Its ECS federal business is the part to watch for DLH, since commercial IT supplies most of Everforth's group revenue.
General Dynamics competes with DLH through GDIT, which sells technology services to federal agencies. GDIT's contract news is more relevant to DLH than group-wide results, which also include business aircraft, ships and combat vehicles.
Booz Allen Hamilton Holding Corporation earningsBAH
Booz Allen Hamilton's report, especially its Department of Veterans Affairs business, will show how it is competing for federal digital-services contracts in a market that matters greatly to DLH.
Watch Booz Allen's VA business and whether related contracts are contributing to growth. Strength would show it remains competitive in an agency that accounts for a large share of DLH's revenue, potentially making contracts harder for DLH to win; weakness would show its momentum there has eased, but would not mean the work goes to DLH.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Fed’s rate decision matters to DLH because it can move SOFR, the benchmark rate on its term loan and revolving line, changing interest costs and the cash left for debt repayment.
Expected4.0%Last release4.0%
If it comes in above expectations
If the Fed raises rates more than expected, higher SOFR would increase interest expense on DLH’s loans, leaving less cash for scheduled debt payments and prepayment.
If it comes in below expectations
If the Fed raises rates less than expected or cuts them, lower-than-expected SOFR would ease interest costs on DLH’s loans, leaving more cash for scheduled debt payments and prepayment.
DLH Holdings Corp. earningsThis company
DLH Holdings Corp. earns mainly by delivering contracts for U.S. federal agencies, and this report will show whether new work is replacing revenue and profit lost from departing contracts.
Read revenue alongside operating margin and compare both with the year-ago quarter. Rising revenue with a steadier margin would show new work beginning to fill the gap left by lost contracts; declines in both would show contract losses and reduced work still shrinking the business and its profit.
