BeyondSpring’s business centers on Plinabulin, a drug candidate being studied to treat cancers, including non-small-cell lung cancer, and prevent chemotherapy-induced reductions in infection-fighting white blood cells. It has no product approved for sale and has earned no product-sales revenue. It funds development through financing, collaboration arrangements and sales of subsidiary interests rather than drug sales.
Its partially owned Chinese subsidiary, Wanchunbulin, granted Hengrui exclusive rights to co-develop and commercialize Plinabulin in Greater China. Hengrui has paid an upfront fee, and Wanchunbulin is eligible for further payments tied to regulatory and sales milestones. If the drug is approved and sold, Wanchunbulin receives the net sales proceeds and pays Hengrui an agreed share; Hengrui bears commercialization costs. BeyondSpring plans to seek a partner for the United States and other markets because it has no internal sales or distribution capabilities.
The business depends on obtaining approval for Plinabulin and funding its development. The FDA declined its application for preventing chemotherapy-induced neutropenia, saying the evidence was insufficient and another well-controlled trial was required. SEED’s separate drug-discovery business is no longer part of BeyondSpring’s continuing operations.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
BeyondSpring hinges on Plinabulin’s clinical and regulatory success, with Hengrui handling Greater China commercialization and BASF supplying the current formulation’s irreplaceable stabilizer.
Lilly sells Cyramza, which competes when combined with docetaxel in the second- and third-line EGFR-wild-type non-small-cell lung cancer setting BeyondSpring targets with Plinabulin. Lilly also licensed research from SEED, but those operations are now excluded from BeyondSpring’s continuing operations, making that link less direct than the lung-cancer rivalry.
Merck sells Keytruda in the second- and third-line EGFR-wild-type non-small-cell lung cancer setting BeyondSpring targets with Plinabulin, putting the two medicines in competition for that patient group. For BeyondSpring holders, Keytruda’s clinical news is more relevant than Merck’s broader sales of medicines, vaccines and animal-health products.
Bristol Myers Squibb sells Opdivo in the second- and third-line EGFR-wild-type non-small-cell lung cancer setting BeyondSpring targets with Plinabulin. That makes Opdivo’s role in treating this patient group the part of Bristol Myers Squibb’s medicines business most directly relevant to Plinabulin’s competitive position.

Lilly’s report can show how Cyramza with docetaxel is faring in the same lung-cancer patient group, revealing the competitive setting for BeyondSpring’s Plinabulin.
Focus on Lilly’s Cyramza-related disclosures and any clinical or commercial information about its use with docetaxel. A well-established role would mean Plinabulin plus docetaxel faces a more entrenched option for these patients; a weakening role could mean less competitive pressure. Lilly’s overall sales do not answer what is happening in this patient group or prove demand for Plinabulin.

BeyondSpring’s report will show whether the continuing costs of developing Plinabulin are drawing down its limited cash and bringing new financing closer.
Read continuing-operations research and operating costs alongside the cash balance. Controlled costs with broadly steady cash would suggest BeyondSpring can keep advancing Plinabulin with its available resources; rising costs and falling cash would point to greater pressure to raise funding or slow development. Treat collaboration revenue separately from product sales: BeyondSpring has no approved product, and the Hengrui upfront payment is deferred revenue to be recognized over time after approval as units are delivered.
