Company overview

Autolus Therapeutics plc makes AUCATZYL for adults whose B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia has returned or resisted treatment. It collects a patient’s T cells, genetically programs and expands them, then returns them to a treatment center for infusion into that same patient. This is a CAR T-cell therapy, manufactured at the company’s Nucleus facility in Stevenage, United Kingdom.

AUCATZYL sales supply most of the company’s revenue, with the United States its main commercial market. Cardinal Health 105, LLC delivers the product to authorized treatment centers and pays Autolus; the centers pay Cardinal Health. Insurer and government coverage and reimbursement help determine whether patients can receive treatment. AUCATZYL is also sold in the United Kingdom through the NHS. Its European Union launch remains on hold while Autolus evaluates commercially viable pricing and market entry, despite regulatory approval.

AUCATZYL is Autolus’s only approved commercial product; its other therapies remain in clinical or preclinical development. Sales depend on centers equipped and authorized to administer CAR T-cell treatments and on reliable patient-by-patient manufacturing and delivery. Autolus relies on AGC Biologics for the viral vector used in commercial production and Miltenyi Biotec for manufacturing equipment, reagents and disposables. It cannot promote AUCATZYL for unapproved uses.

Autolus’s results hinge on AUCATZYL uptake and dependable production, including viral vectors from AGC Biologics and manufacturing instruments, reagents and disposables from Miltenyi Biotec.

  • Gilead’s Kite sells Tecartus to treat the same adults with relapsed or refractory B-cell precursor ALL as Autolus’s AUCATZYL, making physicians’ treatment choices a direct sales contest. Watch Tecartus safety and outcome news against the safety differentiation Autolus claims for AUCATZYL.

  • Novartis’s Kymriah competes for AUCATZYL sales among young adults with B-cell ALL within both drugs’ approved age ranges; Kymriah’s ALL approval extends only through age 25. Treatment-choice and reimbursement news for that overlapping group matters more to Autolus than Novartis’s overall medicine sales.

  • BioNTech pays Autolus to use its binders in products that express them inside the body, but also receives a share of AUCATZYL sales under a separate funding agreement. Progress on those licensed products could bring Autolus milestone payments and royalties, while rising AUCATZYL sales also increase payments to BioNTech.

  • Legend Biotech and Autolus both need specialized centers to adopt their patient-specific CAR-T treatments and manufacturing to keep pace: Legend sells CARVYKTI for multiple myeloma, while Autolus sells AUCATZYL for ALL. CARVYKTI uptake and production news offer a comparison for those execution demands, not a direct measure of AUCATZYL competition.

  • Bristol Myers Squibb shares Autolus’s dependence on cancer centers adopting and securing reimbursement for CAR-T treatments, although its Breyanzi and Abecma sales serve different approved cancers from AUCATZYL. Watch those two products’ commercial expansion for signs of how specialized centers are adopting CAR-T.

  • Amgen’s Blincyto influences the treatment pathway into Autolus’s AUCATZYL: Amgen sells this alternative treatment that engages T cells against B-cell ALL. Its place in physicians’ treatment choices matters to which patients proceed to AUCATZYL.

  • Pfizer’s Besponsa affects the treatment pathway for Autolus’s AUCATZYL by offering another treatment for relapsed or refractory B-cell ALL. Pfizer sells it as an antibody linked to a drug—an antibody-drug conjugate—so its place in treatment sequencing matters to AUCATZYL’s patient pathway.

  • Cabaletta Bio pays to use Autolus’s RQR8 safety-switch technology in its CD19 CAR-T program, while also competing with Autolus’s autoimmune programs. Its clinical and regulatory progress could both strengthen that competition and move Autolus closer to license milestones and, if products reach market, sales royalties.

  • Cellectis is developing ready-to-use CAR-T treatments for ALL that could compete with Autolus’s AUCATZYL, which is made for each patient. Watch whether its trials show durable activity: off-the-shelf therapies might avoid the manufacturing wait, but Autolus says the class has not yet matched the durability of patient-specific CAR-T.

  • Kyverna’s KYV-101 pursues lupus-related treatment opportunities that overlap with Autolus’s autoimmune CAR-T programs, making its clinical results relevant to Autolus’s pipeline rather than current AUCATZYL sales. Kyverna’s lupus and lupus-nephritis studies are the concrete results to watch; it has no approved products or product-sales revenue.

  • Allogene develops donor-derived, ready-to-use T-cell treatments for cancer and autoimmune diseases, offering a different approach in areas where Autolus develops patient-specific therapies. Its trial evidence on lasting activity matters to whether off-the-shelf treatment can overcome the durability concerns Autolus identifies for the class.

  • Caribou Biosciences tests ready-to-use CD19 and BCMA CAR-T treatments, providing a clinical comparison with Autolus’s patient-specific CD19 treatment AUCATZYL, not a current ALL sales rival. Watch durability in vispa-cel’s B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma trial and CB-011’s multiple-myeloma trial as evidence for the off-the-shelf approach.

  • Iovance and Autolus both depend on making an individual patient’s T-cell treatment and getting it to an authorized center: Iovance sells Amtagvi for previously treated advanced melanoma, while Autolus sells AUCATZYL for ALL. Amtagvi manufacturing and treatment-center throughput offer a comparison for AUCATZYL’s delivery demands, rather than direct competition for the same patients.
