Company

Company overview

XChange TEC.INC’s Alpha Mind business helps insurance buyers choose policies, complete applications and submit claims. Insurance companies underwrite the policies and bear the claims obligations; XChange acts as the sales intermediary. Buyers generally pay premiums directly to insurers, which then pay XChange a commission based on those premiums. Insurance-agency commissions account for all its revenue, with automobile insurance providing most of the business.

Sales come through employees, registered external representatives and referral partners such as auto dealerships. XChange shares commissions with representatives and pays referral fees to partners, making these distribution payments its main cost of revenue. Its earnings depend on premium levels, insurers’ commission rates and the cost of bringing in buyers. One state-owned insurer supplies a significant share of revenue. Insurance-agency licenses are required, and Chinese regulation governs premiums, commissions and agency operations.

XChange is a Cayman Islands holding company. Because China restricts foreign investment in certain industries, it accesses its Chinese insurance-agency operations through contracts rather than equity ownership of the operating entities. Its ability to direct those entities and receive their economic benefits depends on those contracts being performed and remaining legally permitted. Chinese rules also restrict transfers of cash to the holding company.

The company no longer operates its former long-term apartment rental business. Alpha Mind’s software platform supports agency operations but remains in testing and does not generate revenue.

  • Cheche competes with XChange TEC.INC in distributing insurance in China through intermediary networks, with both heavily exposed to property and casualty insurers; XChange earns insurer-paid sales commissions, while Cheche helps intermediaries obtain quotes and issue policies through its platform. Watch premiums placed through Cheche alongside its revenue: in 2025, premiums rose while revenue fell, so more policies did not mean more revenue.

  • Zhibao and XChange TEC.INC compete for insurance sales through business partners in China, with insurers paying their commissions and consumers paying premiums. Zhibao puts insurance offers into partners’ digital customer platforms; its brokerage revenue is the closest comparison to XChange’s commission business, accounting for approximately 99% of Zhibao’s revenue in fiscal 2025.

  • AIFU competes with XChange TEC.INC in selling insurers’ life, health and property and casualty policies through sales agents, earning agency revenue rather than underwriting the policies. Its property and casualty sales are the closer comparison for XChange’s property-heavy business, rather than AIFU’s long-term personal life and health products.

  • Huize and XChange TEC.INC both sell insurer-underwritten policies in China for insurer-paid commissions, but Huize is a less direct comparison because life and health products generated 90.4% of its brokerage income in 2025. Watch Huize’s property and casualty premiums for the closer comparison with XChange’s property-heavy sales, rather than treating Huize’s overall growth as the same signal.

Huize’s property and casualty premiums show how demand is moving in a part of China’s insurance market relevant to XChange TEC.INC’s property-heavy policy sales, though Huize is not a close overall comparison.
