Huize helps clients choose and buy insurance, with life and health policies providing most of its revenue, particularly annuity and endowment life products. It serves clients through its platform and insurance consultants, and pays referral channels to bring prospective buyers to the platform. Mainland China is its largest market, while Hong Kong contributes nearly as much revenue.
The insurers issue the policies and bear the insurance risk; Huize acts as the intermediary. Premiums it collects are passed in full to insurers, which pay Huize commissions based on those premiums. These commissions account for almost all revenue. For most life and health policies, Huize receives a larger first-year commission and smaller commissions on subsequent renewals—not throughout the entire premium-payment period.
Income therefore depends on attracting buyers, keeping clients paying their premiums, and the products and commission terms insurers offer. Its largest insurer partners together supply a substantial share of revenue. Some insurers can stop renewal commissions or withdraw sales authorization if client renewal rates fall below agreed thresholds. Mainland China's online insurance rules also limit transactions to platforms operated by insurers or insurance intermediaries: referral partners without those qualifications cannot provide insurance advice, compare products, process applications or collect premiums.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Waterdrop competes with Huize for life and health policy buyers; both sell insurers’ policies through marketplaces and receive commissions based on the premiums customers pay. Watch Waterdrop’s life and health commission revenue against the same products that generated 90.4% of Huize’s brokerage income in 2025.
AIFU competes with Huize to sell long-term personal life and health insurance in China, earning agency revenue from insurers while Huize earns distribution commissions. AIFU’s sales through affiliated agents offer a comparison for Huize’s mainland business, rather than its growing Hong Kong revenue.
Yuanbao competes with Huize in using consumer data to help Chinese insurers tailor and sell health policies, serving insurers without taking on underwriting risk. Watch Yuanbao’s new medical and critical-illness policy counts: it is more concentrated in those products, while Huize’s life and annuity premiums outweigh its health categories.
Zhibao competes with Huize to sell insurers’ policies to Chinese consumers, with insurers paying both companies commissions tied to customer premiums; Zhibao chiefly reaches buyers by placing insurance offers inside business partners’ digital platforms. Its brokerage revenue is the line to watch for competition from those channels, accounting for about 99% of revenue in fiscal 2025.
Huize Holding Limited earningsThis company
Huize earns commissions by placing insurance policies, and this report will show whether new and renewal premiums together support brokerage income and leave operating profit.
Read first-year premiums, renewal premiums and operating profit together. Rising first-year premiums, steady renewals and positive operating profit would show that both new policies and continuing payments are generating commissions sufficient to cover operating costs. If new premiums rise but renewals fall, or operating profit remains negative, new business is not yet making up for weaker renewal income or costs; the durability of growth remains unproven.
Waterdrop Inc. earningsWDH
Waterdrop's life and health commission revenue will show whether a marketplace competing with Huize for similar policy buyers is still placing policies for insurers.
Watch the change in Waterdrop's life and health commission revenue alongside Huize's life- and health-led brokerage business. An increase would suggest that policy activity or monetization is strengthening in the market they share; a decline would point to a possible slowdown or tougher competition. Their product mixes and commission rates differ, so Waterdrop's result does not establish Huize's performance, but it helps show the direction of the market Huize competes in.
