Universal Electronics earns most of its revenue from home entertainment: video service providers and consumer-electronics manufacturers buy its remote controls, chips and software to let users find and control televisions, set-top boxes and other devices. It also licenses technology such as QuickSet, which helps devices identify and work with one another, and supplies software and control-library updates to maintain compatibility with new devices. Its One For All brand sells replacement remotes, antennas and mounts through retailers.
A second substantial business supplies heating and cooling equipment manufacturers with thermostat controllers, smart thermostats and connected sensors. The company also sells sensors and control modules to security and home-automation manufacturers and service providers. These customers incorporate its products into their own equipment and systems.
Daikin Industries and Comcast each account for a substantial share of sales, so their orders matter to the business. Production depends on timely supplies of integrated circuits and other components, some available from only a few sources. Its international manufacturing footprint also exposes product costs to tariffs, while U.S. import rules restrict entry of goods linked to forced labor.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Alongside demand for television and subscription-video controls, UEI depends heavily on HVAC customer Daikin, which accounted for 18.3% of its 2025 sales.
Comcast buys UEI’s home-entertainment control products and accounted for 12.3% of UEI’s 2025 sales, so its video-platform purchasing matters directly to UEI. Watch purchasing for the platforms Comcast uses to deliver television and streaming services to subscribers.
Resideo Technologies, Inc. competes with UEI for climate-control business, selling connected HVAC and energy-management products while UEI sells controllers and smart thermostats mainly to equipment makers. Resideo’s comfort and energy-management product business is the part to watch for competitive pressure on UEI.
Sony is a UEI customer, with its consumer-electronics business buying UEI’s home-entertainment control and technology offerings. Sony’s display and sound businesses are more relevant to that relationship than its music or film results.
Comcast Corp earningsCMCSA
Comcast’s report will show how demand for its TV and streaming platforms is changing, where it buys UEI’s home-entertainment controls.
Look at changes in Comcast’s video-service subscribers alongside its investment in TV and streaming platforms. Stable subscribers and continued platform investment support demand for the controls used in those services; subscriber losses or cutbacks would put Comcast’s purchases from UEI at risk, but would not by themselves prove that UEI’s orders have changed.
Resideo Technologies, Inc. earningsREZI
Resideo’s report will show how sales and profitability in its comfort and energy-management products are changing, a competitive benchmark for Universal Electronics’ climate-control business.
Read Resideo’s comfort and energy-management product sales alongside profitability. Rising sales with resilient margins would show it can turn HVAC demand into profitable business, putting more competitive pressure on Universal Electronics’ climate-control products. Weakening sales or margins would signal less momentum from Resideo, but would not prove UEI has won orders.
Universal Electronics Inc earningsThis company
Universal Electronics’ report will show whether sales to climate-control and smart-home customers can offset weakness in home entertainment and support its gross margin.
Read connected-home and home-entertainment sales alongside gross margin, the share of sales left after product costs. If connected home grows, home entertainment stabilizes and gross margin holds, demand and the sales mix are covering component, freight and tariff costs. If connected-home sales stall, home entertainment keeps falling and gross margin contracts, one channel is not offsetting the other’s weakness, leaving sales and cost pressure unresolved.
Retail Sales MoM (Oct)
Retail sales track how much consumers spend in stores and online; stronger or weaker spending can change purchases of One For All accessories at retailers and orders for UEI’s home-entertainment products from consumer-electronics customers.
Stronger retail spending would suggest firmer support for retailer purchases of One For All accessories and orders for UEI’s home-entertainment products; weaker spending would point to softer demand along both paths.
