Travere Therapeutics’ main product is FILSPARI, an oral medicine approved in the United States to slow kidney-function decline in adults with primary IgA nephropathy at risk of disease progression. FILSPARI supplies most of its revenue. Travere sells it to two U.S. specialty pharmacies that deliver directly to patients. Government health programs and private insurers help fund treatment, so sales depend heavily on their coverage and reimbursement decisions. FILSPARI also requires ongoing liver-function monitoring under an FDA-mandated safety program.
Travere also sells Thiola and Thiola EC for cystinuria, a rare kidney disease. These products provide a smaller revenue stream and face generic competition that has affected sales. The company relies on outside manufacturers that are currently sole-source suppliers for FILSPARI and Thiola.
Outside the United States, Travere licenses FILSPARI to partners rather than handling all sales itself. CSL Vifor commercializes it in Europe and other licensed markets, paying Travere royalties and milestone payments. Chugai holds development and commercialization rights in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, with sales dependent on local approvals. This licensing income depends on partners’ progress and sales efforts. Travere reinvests commercial-product revenue in research and development.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Travere’s results hinge mainly on FILSPARI adoption; watch CSL Vifor’s overseas commercialization and Chugai’s Asian development for royalties and milestone payments.
Vera Therapeutics is developing atacicept for IgA nephropathy (IgAN), putting it in competition for the patients served by Travere’s main revenue-generating medicine, FILSPARI. Vera had no product sales in 2025; watch the U.S. approval application it submitted for atacicept in November 2025.
Ligand Pharmaceuticals receives 9% of worldwide FILSPARI sales from Travere in return for licensing the drug’s intellectual property, so rising sales benefit both companies but also increase Travere’s payments. Ligand’s FILSPARI royalty revenue offers a direct read on the drug’s worldwide sales.
Novartis competes with Travere for IgAN patients and is developing atrasentan for additional kidney diseases that overlap sparsentan’s potential market. For this prescription-drug seller, watch atrasentan’s development in FSGS and related conditions rather than its total medicine sales.
Ionis Pharmaceuticals is developing sefaxersen for IgAN and names Travere’s FILSPARI as a competing treatment for those patients. Ionis already earns revenue from marketed medicines, but sefaxersen’s development is the news most directly relevant to FILSPARI’s competitive position.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals’ APOL1 kidney-disease program includes some FSGS patients who could also be candidates for Travere’s sparsentan, creating a potential treatment overlap. Vertex sells medicines mainly through specialty pharmacies and distributors; for Travere, watch its Phase 3 kidney-study data in patients with the specified APOL1 mutations.
Mirum Pharmaceuticals bought Travere’s Chenodal and Cholbam bile-acid medicines business, and sales reaching agreed annual thresholds trigger further payments to Travere. Those sales earned Travere a $25 million milestone in 2025, making this business’s annual net sales the figure to watch for additional payments.
Maze Therapeutics’ MZE829 targets APOL1-mediated kidney disease in a genetically defined patient group that overlaps Travere’s FSGS opportunity. Maze has no product-sales revenue, so watch MZE829’s clinical progress rather than commercial sales for signs of potential competition with sparsentan.
Akebia Therapeutics is developing praliciguat for FSGS, overlapping Travere’s proposed use of sparsentan, while earning revenue from medicines for kidney-disease complications. Watch praliciguat’s clinical progress; Akebia also says some FSGS patients may benefit from combinations of treatments, rather than a single therapy.
Travere Therapeutics, Inc. earningsThis company
Travere relies mainly on FILSPARI for product sales, and this report will show whether that core business is growing or total revenue is being lifted mainly by collaboration income.
Read FILSPARI and tiopronin product sales separately from license and collaboration revenue, which can include milestone payments and royalties and need not rise with product sales. Higher FILSPARI sales would point to stronger demand for Travere’s core product; flat or falling sales while collaboration revenue supports the total would show greater reliance on partner payments than on product sales.
Ligand Pharmaceuticals Inc. earningsLGND
Ligand’s FILSPARI royalty revenue gives Travere a read on worldwide sales of the drug, while also showing how stronger sales can increase Travere’s royalty costs.
Read Ligand’s FILSPARI royalty revenue alongside Travere’s reported FILSPARI product sales. If both rise, sales growth is showing up in Travere’s product business and in the royalties it owes; weaker royalty revenue could indicate slower worldwide sales, although reporting timing can affect the comparison. The question is whether demand and Travere’s licensing costs are rising together.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc earningsVRTX
Vertex’s report will show clinical progress in its APOL1 kidney program among patients who may overlap with the potential patient group for Travere’s sparsentan.
Watch Vertex’s reported kidney-study progress in patients with specified APOL1 mutations; some may also have focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Progress would point to a potential new treatment option for part of the group that could be eligible for Travere’s sparsentan; weak results or no progress would provide less evidence of added competition, but would not settle competition across FSGS as a whole.
Mirum Pharmaceuticals, Inc. earningsMIRM
Mirum’s report will show sales of the bile-acid medicines it bought from Travere, which could bring Travere further payments if agreed sales thresholds are reached.
Watch Mirum’s reported annual net sales of Chenodal and Cholbam and whether they reach the agreed sales thresholds. Reaching a threshold would mean milestone revenue for Travere; falling short would mean no payment tied to that threshold. This shows whether the acquired business can add collaboration income for Travere, not how its core medicines are selling.
Vera Therapeutics, Inc. earningsVERA
Vera’s report will update its U.S. application for atacicept, a potential treatment for the same IgA nephropathy patients sought by Travere’s FILSPARI.
Watch Vera’s update on its U.S. application for atacicept, which targets IgA nephropathy (IgAN), the same disease treated by FILSPARI. Progress toward a regulatory decision would make another potential option more concrete and could add competitive pressure for FILSPARI; delay or a setback would leave that added competition less immediate, but would not establish how demand for FILSPARI is changing.
