Tuya helps brands and their manufacturers build devices that connect to the cloud, work with apps and use AI functions. Its platform supplies connectivity, device management and development tools. This business, called platform as a service (PaaS), brings in most of its revenue. Tuya usually contracts with the manufacturers making devices for brands, rather than with the brands themselves, and charges mainly by the number of PaaS products deployed. Most of this revenue comes through contracts with manufacturers in mainland China, although the devices serve markets worldwide.
Tuya also sells finished smart devices sourced from manufacturers, earning the difference between purchase and selling prices. Its smaller software business earns subscription and service fees from enterprises and device users, including for cloud storage and AI audio and video services; basic cloud services for end users are free.
Revenue depends on brands' device orders and manufacturers' purchasing and inventory cycles, rather than on one dominant customer. Delivery relies on outside module manufacturers and cloud providers, including AWS and Microsoft Azure. Privacy and data-localization rules constrain how Tuya processes and stores data across markets.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Tuya’s results depend more directly on smart-device orders and inventory cycles at its manufacturing customers serving brands such as Midea and TCL than on the diversified cloud providers listed here.
Tuya relies on Amazon’s AWS to host its platform, even as AWS competes for the device makers that pay Tuya to connect and manage smart devices. AWS’s IoT services are the offering to watch for this overlap.
Tuya uses Alibaba Group’s cloud infrastructure while competing with Alibaba Cloud for device makers buying smart-device platform services. Alibaba Cloud’s IoT platform offerings matter here because they target customers who overlap with Tuya’s.
Tuya depends on Microsoft Azure for cloud infrastructure, but Microsoft also offers enterprises another way to connect and manage smart devices instead of paying for Tuya’s services. Azure’s IoT offerings are the relevant alternative to watch.

Amazon’s report will show how AWS is faring as the cloud host for Tuya’s platform and as a rival seller of services to smart-device makers.
Watch AWS’s cloud business, but do not treat Amazon’s overall growth as a direct measure of demand for Tuya. A healthy AWS business supports the hosting infrastructure Tuya relies on; strain in service or capacity could leave Tuya facing disruption, higher costs or a search for alternatives. Greater traction for AWS IoT services could also intensify competition for device makers. The report helps show whether AWS is mainly a dependable supplier to Tuya or an increasingly forceful rival as well.
Retail Sales MoM (Oct)
Retail sales track how much consumers buy, and stronger or weaker spending can change Tuya’s brand and OEM customers’ smart-device demand and the number of devices they deploy on Tuya’s cloud platform-as-a-service (PaaS), which drives PaaS fees.
Stronger retail sales suggest consumer spending may support Tuya’s brand and OEM customers’ smart-device demand and PaaS orders; weaker sales suggest less support and potential pressure on deployment-based fees.
Tuya Inc. earningsThis company
Tuya earns most of its revenue from platform fees paid by OEMs, and this report will show whether deployments and delivery costs still support that revenue and its margin.
Read PaaS revenue growth alongside its gross margin. Growth with a stable or higher margin would show that OEMs are deploying more products while Tuya preserves the economics of serving them. Slower growth or a lower margin could point to softer OEM demand or less favorable delivery costs and product mix. Together, the figures show whether Tuya’s core platform business is expanding without giving up profitability.
Alibaba Group Holding Limited earningsBABA
Alibaba’s report will show how its cloud business and IoT platform are progressing, offering a read on its push for device makers that overlap with Tuya’s customers.
Look for evidence about Alibaba Cloud’s IoT platform, not just growth in Alibaba’s overall cloud business. Stronger traction in the relevant platform offerings would suggest Alibaba Cloud is becoming more compelling to overlapping device-maker customers, raising competitive pressure on Tuya. Weaker traction would make that signal less concerning. The takeaway is whether Alibaba Cloud is emerging as a stronger alternative to Tuya’s platform, not how Tuya itself performed.
