Tootsie Roll Industries sells candy under brands including Tootsie Roll, Tootsie Pops, Junior Mints and Andes. Confectionery is its only business, and the United States supplies most sales. Retailers and distributors pay the company for packaged products, which it sells directly or through brokers. Wal-Mart and Dollar Tree, including Family Dollar, are major customers. Some purchases by these retailers pass through McLane, a distributor that also serves other customers, making these relationships important to sales.
Halloween is its busiest selling season. Earnings depend partly on whether customers and consumers accept higher prices or smaller packages as ingredient, packaging and labor costs rise. Most products are made at one facility using specialized equipment, so interrupted production can be difficult to move elsewhere quickly.
Some products contain synthetic food dyes. The FDA has announced plans to phase out certain dyes, while states have enacted or are considering sales restrictions. These evolving requirements could limit which formulations the company can sell; their impact remains uncertain.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc.’s results hinge partly on Walmart, which accounted for about 22% of its 2025 net product sales, and on passing cocoa and chocolate costs through to consumers.
Hershey competes with Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc. for North American shoppers buying branded chocolate, candy, gum and mints, putting them in competition for retail shelf space and price. Watch Hershey’s North America Confectionery results for clues to competition in those products.
Mondelēz competes with Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc. for consumers’ chocolate and candy purchases through its own branded products. Its chocolate business, including Cadbury Dairy Milk, Milka and Toblerone, is more relevant to that rivalry than its biscuits and baked snacks.
Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc. depends on Dollar Tree as a major buyer of its candy for discount-store shoppers: Dollar Tree, including Family Dollar, accounted for about 13.1% of its 2025 net product sales. A material cut in this retailer’s purchases could reduce Tootsie Roll’s sales and hurt its results.

Tootsie Roll Industries must recover ingredient costs through pricing without driving shoppers away, and this report will show whether sales growth is leaving enough profit after product costs.
Read net product sales alongside cost of goods sold as a share of sales. Growing sales with a steady or falling cost share would show that pricing and cost control are covering input costs and protecting product profit. Flat or falling sales with a rising cost share would show that resistance to higher prices, or rising input costs, is squeezing that profit.
The Hershey Company earningsHSY
Hershey competes with Tootsie Roll Industries for North American candy shoppers and shelf space, so its report will show whether demand and pricing pressure in that market are strengthening or easing.
Look at Hershey’s North America Confectionery sales and whether growth comes with resilient volume or mainly from pricing. Sales growth with volume holding up would show shoppers are still buying candy and shelf competition remains strong. If sales growth relies on pricing while volume weakens, shoppers may be resisting higher prices, making it harder for Tootsie Roll Industries to hold sales or pass on costs.
Dollar Tree Inc. earningsDLTR
Dollar Tree is a major buyer of Tootsie Roll Industries’ candy, and its report will show whether shoppers and sales at this important discount-store channel appear healthy.
Use Dollar Tree’s sales and customer traffic to judge whether shoppers are supporting this important retail channel. Healthy sales and traffic would be consistent with continued demand for store inventory; weakness would raise the risk that the retailer becomes more cautious about orders, increasing customer-demand risk for Tootsie Roll Industries. Dollar Tree’s overall results do not, by themselves, show how much candy it buys from Tootsie Roll.
