Suburban Propane Partners supplies fuel that households and businesses use for heating, cooking and other purposes. Propane generates most of its revenue. The company buys it from wholesalers and delivers it through a U.S. retail network, using trucks and portable cylinders. It owns many of the storage tanks at customer premises and schedules automatic deliveries for many households based on past consumption and weather. Customers pay for the fuel delivered; no single customer dominates propane revenue.
Smaller businesses deliver heating oil and other fuels, mainly in the Northeast, and sell, install and service heating equipment. Its Agway Energy Services subsidiary sells natural gas and electricity in New York and Pennsylvania’s deregulated markets, arranging supply through local utilities and bundling it with an EnergyGuard home warranty. The company also operates and develops renewable natural gas production assets.
Demand depends heavily on winter heating needs: warmer weather reduces consumption. Earnings also depend on the gap between retail prices and fuel purchase and transportation costs, since cost increases cannot always be passed on promptly or fully. Energy Transfer LP is its largest propane supplier, so access to wholesale supply and transportation matters alongside customer demand. Fuel handling and delivery require environmental and safety permits; noncompliance can restrict or stop operations.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Suburban Propane Partners L P’s results depend chiefly on winter heating demand and retail propane margins, so these suppliers and wholesale distributors are not close substitutes for its retail business.
Suburban relies on Energy Transfer for propane it resells to its customers: Energy Transfer supplied approximately 30% of its propane purchases in fiscal 2025. Energy Transfer transports, stores and markets fuels, making news about its propane supply and logistics worth watching for Suburban’s main revenue-generating business.
Targa Resources helps supply the propane Suburban sells to retail customers: its liquids-marketing subsidiary supplied approximately 12% of Suburban’s propane purchases in fiscal 2025. Targa processes natural gas and sells the fuels extracted from it, so watch its propane-marketing operations for clues about Suburban’s supply.
Global Partners LP shares Suburban’s exposure to northeastern U.S. heating-fuel demand, but sells heating oil, kerosene and propane through wholesale terminals while Suburban delivers heating fuels to homes and businesses. Watch Global’s wholesale heating-fuel sales for clues about demand and fuel availability in those markets, rather than treating its results as a match for Suburban’s retail business.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Fed decisions shape borrowing costs across the economy, which can change what Suburban Propane pays to refinance debt or borrow and leave available for operations and distributions.

If it comes in above expectations
Higher rates can make new borrowing or refinancing costlier for Suburban Propane, leaving less cash for operations and distributions.
If it comes in below expectations
Lower rates can ease Suburban Propane’s borrowing or refinancing costs, leaving more cash available for operations and distributions.
Energy Transfer LP earningsET
Energy Transfer’s report can offer clues about propane supply and logistics, relevant because it supplied about 30% of Suburban Propane’s propane purchases in fiscal 2025.
Look for Energy Transfer’s disclosures about propane supply and logistics, especially whether product and transport are moving smoothly or facing disruption. Smooth operations would ease concern about interruptions and added costs from a source that supplied a substantial share of Suburban Propane’s propane; disruption or tight logistics would raise the risk of higher acquisition and transport costs or constrained deliveries. Energy Transfer’s results are not a measure of Suburban Propane’s actual costs or deliveries, but they can indicate whether this important supply link looks more secure or more strained.
Global Partners LP earningsGLP
Global Partners LP’s wholesale-terminal sales can offer a read on northeastern heating-fuel markets, where Suburban Propane delivers fuel directly to homes and businesses.
Watch Global Partners LP’s wholesale heating-fuel sales. Stronger sales would suggest that demand or fuel availability in the Northeast is supportive of Suburban Propane’s retail heating business; weaker sales could reflect softer demand, but could also reflect supply constraints, so the company’s explanation matters. Wholesale-terminal sales are not the same as Suburban Propane’s retail gallons. The takeaway is whether the regional market appears to be helping or weighing on Suburban Propane’s sales to homes and businesses.
Suburban Propane Partners L P earningsThis company
Suburban Propane earns much of its revenue by delivering propane to homes and businesses, and this report will show whether core propane volume and gross margin are holding up against costs.
Focus on retail propane gallons and propane gross margin excluding unrealized derivative adjustments—the amount left after related costs. Steady volume with firmer margin would show that customer demand and selling prices are supporting the business against acquisition and transport costs. Weaker volume or a narrowing margin, even with higher revenue, would show that sales growth is not translating into stronger underlying returns. Together, the figures will show whether Suburban Propane’s core propane business is earning more or merely selling more.
