Solid Biosciences is developing treatments for rare genetic diseases affecting muscles and the heart. Its clinical programs include SGT-003 for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, SGT-212 for Friedreich’s ataxia and SGT-501 for a genetic heart-rhythm disorder. These remain experimental treatments, not marketed products. The company has funded its work mainly by selling stock to investors and depends on further financing to complete development.
It also licenses POLARIS-101, the virus-derived shell used to deliver genetic material in SGT-003, to companies and research institutions. These agreements can bring upfront payments and payments tied to development progress, followed by royalties if licensees sell resulting treatments; they do not assure future income.
For its own treatments to generate sales, Solid Biosciences must complete development and obtain regulatory approval. It relies on outside manufacturers to produce its candidates and on licensed intellectual property to retain development and commercialization rights. If treatments reach the market, government health programs and private insurers would be essential sources of payment for most patients.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Solid Biosciences’ prospects hinge on its gene therapies’ clinical safety, efficacy and approval; Genethon is another important Duchenne gene-therapy rival to watch beyond this list.
Sarepta Therapeutics,, Inc. already sells Elevidys and medicines that help patients skip faulty gene sections, competing with Solid’s investigational Duchenne gene therapy SGT-003. Elevidys’ 2025 U.S. liver-injury boxed warning and removal of non-ambulatory patients from its indication make its safety and eligible patient population particularly important to watch.
REGENXBIO Inc.’s RGX-202 competes directly with Solid’s SGT-003: both are Duchenne gene therapies in clinical development. RGX-202’s clinical progress is the program to watch for changes in Solid’s competitive position, rather than REGENXBIO’s payments from drugmakers licensing its gene-delivery technology.
Lexeo Therapeutics, Inc. competes with Solid in developing gene therapies for Friedreich’s ataxia, but its LX2006 targets the disease’s cardiac manifestations. LX2006’s clinical results are the relevant comparison for Solid’s SGT-212, with that narrower treatment focus in mind.
Dyne Therapeutics, Inc. is developing a medicine that skips a faulty gene section in Duchenne patients whose mutations may also be addressed by Solid’s SGT-003. Its Duchenne program’s progress matters for that overlapping patient group; Dyne had no commercialized products at the end of 2025.
Entrada Therapeutics, Inc. is developing Duchenne medicines that skip specific faulty gene sections, targeting patient groups that overlap Solid’s SGT-003 opportunity. Watch its ENTR-601-44, -45, -50 and -51 programs for those groups, rather than treating payments for its separate DM1 collaboration as evidence of Duchenne progress.
Capricor Therapeutics Inc offers a different potential treatment for Solid’s Duchenne patients: Deramiocel uses cells from donated human hearts, while SGT-003 is a gene therapy. The supplied filing places Deramiocel under U.S. FDA review, making its approval outcome the development to watch.
Larimar Therapeutics, Inc.’s nomlabofusp competes with Solid’s SGT-212 for treating Friedreich’s ataxia through a non-gene-therapy approach. Nomlabofusp’s clinical progress is the key comparison: Larimar has devoted substantially all its resources to its development and supporting operations, without commercializing a product.
PTC Therapeutics, Inc. overlaps both of Solid’s principal disease areas: it sells Duchenne medicines and develops a treatment for Friedreich’s ataxia. Its Translarna and Emflaza business and Friedreich’s ataxia development are more relevant to Solid than sales of its other rare-disease medicines.
Design Therapeutics, Inc. is developing a non-gene-therapy treatment for Friedreich’s ataxia that could compete with Solid’s SGT-212. Its treatment-development progress, not product sales, is what matters here: it had no approved products or product-sale revenue at the end of 2025.
Insmed’s INS1201 competes with Solid’s SGT-003 as a systemic Duchenne gene therapy in clinical development. INS1201’s Phase 1 progress is the relevant signal for Solid, rather than Insmed’s sales of respiratory medicines ARIKAYCE and BRINSUPRI.
Voyager Therapeutics, Inc. and Neurocrine are developing a Friedreich’s ataxia gene therapy that competes with Solid’s SGT-212. Watch that preclinical collaboration’s progress; Voyager’s funding from partnerships spans several disease programs and is not a measure of this rival’s progress alone.
Satellos Bioscience Inc. is developing oral SAT-3247 to promote muscle regeneration in Duchenne patients, a different approach from Solid’s SGT-003 gene therapy. Its adult TRAILHEAD trial and pediatric Phase 2 BASECAMP study are the concrete programs to watch for this alternative treatment.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Solid Biosciences’ rate-sensitive cash investments can earn more or less interest as policy rates change, affecting other income while it develops gene-therapy candidates without product sales.
Expected4.0%Last release4.0%
If it comes in above expectations
Higher rates can lift returns on new or repricing cash investments, increasing interest income that helps offset the costs of advancing Solid Biosciences’ candidates.
If it comes in below expectations
Lower rates can reduce returns on new or repricing cash investments, leaving less interest income to offset Solid Biosciences’ candidate-development costs.
Solid Biosciences Inc. earningsThis company
Solid Biosciences has no product-sales revenue, so this report will show whether development and operating costs are using up its cash faster.
Read operating expenses alongside cash used in operations, then compare both with cash, cash equivalents and securities on hand at quarter-end. Rising expenses without a matching acceleration in operating cash use would suggest available capital is still supporting development; a sharp rise in both would mean cash is being consumed faster and new financing could be needed sooner. Solid Biosciences previously estimated that its funds would support operations into the first half of 2028, but that estimate depends on assumptions and is not a guarantee.
REGENXBIO Inc. earningsRGNX
REGENXBIO's report will show whether its RGX-202 Duchenne gene therapy is advancing alongside Solid Biosciences' competing SGT-003.
Look for concrete clinical progress on RGX-202 and compare its stage with SGT-003. Clear progress would show another gene-therapy developer advancing toward the same Duchenne patients; limited progress or a delay would mean less near-term pressure from this rival program, but would not prove that SGT-003 works or is safer. The report can clarify where the competing program stands, not how well Solid's treatment works.
Voyager Therapeutics, Inc. earningsVYGR
Voyager Therapeutics' report will show whether its Neurocrine-partnered Friedreich's ataxia gene-therapy program is advancing against Solid Biosciences' SGT-212.
Look for concrete progress in Voyager's Friedreich's ataxia program with Neurocrine; funding from Voyager's other partnerships is not evidence that this rival program has advanced. Progress would show another gene therapy moving forward for the same disease; limited progress would mean a weaker near-term competitive signal, but would not make SGT-212 more likely to succeed. The conclusion is whether this competing program is advancing, not how well Solid's treatment works.
