Skillsoft Corp. helps organizations train employees in technology, leadership, business and compliance, and manage and measure their skills development. Customers pay for access to its Skills Management Platform, which combines learning content with coaching, hands-on practice and assessment tools. Its Percipio platform includes Skillsoft-created, licensed and customer-created content. Enterprise subscriptions supply most of its revenue: contracts typically run for multiple years, with prices based on the organization’s scope, user count and chosen features, and fees commonly paid annually in advance. This business depends on customers renewing and expanding access; training budgets and employee counts affect spending. Skillsoft also sells interactive technology learning directly to individuals through its Learner Platform.
Global Knowledge (GK), its smaller business, sells instructor-led technology and professional-certification training online and in person. Much of GK’s revenue depends on a concentrated group of technology-company relationships. Keeping authorized training-provider status gives GK access to official courses, incentives and the right to issue vendor certificates. Skillsoft is reviewing a possible sale of GK, but has not announced a transaction or timetable.
Career-training licensing rules can limit where Skillsoft operates. The company believes its services do not require those licenses, but regulators have disagreed in the past and could bar career-related training in a jurisdiction until it obtains a required license.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Skillsoft’s results hinge on corporate training budgets and competition from learning providers including Udemy, Pluralsight and LinkedIn Learning.
Coursera competes with Skillsoft for employers and individual learners paying for online skills courses and subscriptions. Watch Coursera for Business for competition among employer customers, rather than its university and government offerings.
Docebo competes with Skillsoft for employers paying for platforms to manage employee training, certification and reskilling. Its learning-platform subscription revenue is the line to watch for that competition, though it also covers training for customers and partners.
Pearson competes with Skillsoft in learning content and courseware sold to enterprises, but its wider education businesses make its overall results a less direct comparison. Watch its Enterprise Learning & Skills business for news about corporate content and courseware.
YXT competes with Skillsoft through NeoLearning, selling companies training software and content that overlap with Skillsoft’s learning and workforce-development subscriptions. Watch NeoLearning’s corporate training, knowledge management and personalized learning offerings rather than YXT’s other enterprise AI tools.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Fed’s decision on its benchmark interest rate matters to Skillsoft because a higher rate can lift SOFR, the rate its term loans are tied to, raising interest payments and leaving less cash for operations and debt service.
Expected4.0%Last release4.0%
If it comes in above expectations
If the Fed’s rate is higher than expected, higher borrowing costs across the economy may lift SOFR and increase Skillsoft’s interest expense on its SOFR-linked term loans, leaving less cash for operations and debt service.
If it comes in below expectations
If the Fed’s rate is lower than expected, lower borrowing costs across the economy may ease SOFR and reduce interest expense on Skillsoft’s SOFR-linked term loans, leaving more cash for operations and debt service.
Docebo Inc. earningsDCBO
Docebo's report will show how employers are spending on employee-training platforms, a market where Skillsoft also competes for enterprise customers.
Compare the direction of Docebo's learning-platform subscription revenue with Skillsoft's TDS enterprise subscription revenue, not their dollar amounts. If Docebo's revenue strengthens, employers are still paying for training platforms, but Skillsoft must win customers on its own offering. If it weakens, demand for these platforms may be under pressure; Docebo alone cannot tell whether that reflects the market or company-specific factors, so Skillsoft's own enterprise subscriptions still matter.
Skillsoft Corp. earningsThis company
Skillsoft's report will show whether enterprise subscriptions can support TDS profit and offset weakness in GK's instructor-led training business.
Read TDS enterprise subscription revenue alongside TDS contribution margin, then compare them with GK revenue and margin. Contribution margin is segment contribution profit as a share of that segment's revenue. If enterprise subscriptions grow and TDS margin holds while GK weakens, Skillsoft's subscription business is taking up the slack from instructor-led training. If subscriptions stall or TDS margin falls while GK remains weak, the newer business is not yet replacing the revenue and profit being lost.
