Company

Company overview

SiteOne Landscape Supply supplies contractors who build and maintain residential and commercial outdoor spaces. Its branches across the United States and Canada bring together products from many suppliers, letting contractors buy the smaller quantities they need locally rather than source them separately from suppliers geared toward bulk shipments. Customers pay SiteOne for these supplies; it also offers delivery and technical and business advice.

Most revenue comes from landscaping products such as paving and stone materials, irrigation supplies, plants and outdoor lighting. It also sells fertilizer and other maintenance products, including its own LESCO brand. Its customer base is broad, with no single customer supplying a substantial share of sales.

Residential projects account for most sales, so demand depends heavily on homebuilding and spending on landscape repairs and upgrades, alongside commercial construction. Maintenance of existing properties provides a steadier source of demand. Weather affects both landscaping activity and product availability. Sales of products containing herbicides or pesticides generally require federal and state registrations in the United States; loss of those registrations can restrict what SiteOne may sell.

SiteOne depends on spending on landscape maintenance, construction and upgrades, while important direct rivals such as Heritage Landscape Supply Group and Ewing are missing from this list.

  • Pool Corporation competes with SiteOne for professionals buying irrigation supplies, landscape maintenance products and paving materials. Its sales in those categories are more relevant to SiteOne than its swimming-pool supplies business.

  • Lowe's competes with SiteOne where its garden and outdoor-project products give homeowners and smaller professional contractors another place to buy landscape supplies.

  • Builders FirstSource shares SiteOne's exposure to U.S. homebuilding and renovation: it sells building materials to professional builders, while SiteOne supplies landscape professionals working on those projects. Its business with new-home builders and remodelers is the part to watch for clues to SiteOne's construction and landscape-upgrade demand, rather than recurring maintenance.

  • UFP Industries and SiteOne serve the same outdoor projects: UFP sells decking and treated wood through retailers and distributors, while SiteOne sells paving materials and other landscape supplies to professionals.

  • PulteGroup's U.S. homebuilding business tracks the new-home market that generates demand for SiteOne's sales to landscape professionals. Watch its revenue from building and selling homes for a read on that market; new construction accounted for about 34% of SiteOne's net sales in fiscal 2025.
