Shenandoah Telecom Co connects homes and businesses in the eastern United States through fiber-optic and cable networks. Customers pay for broadband internet and can also buy video and voice services. Household and small-business services account for most revenue, with established markets contributing more than the newer areas served by its Glo Fiber fiber-to-the-home network.
A separate commercial business connects enterprises and wholesale customers through dedicated high-speed links and leases fiber that customers can equip themselves. National wireless carriers supply a substantial share of commercial revenue, and their contracts require reliable connections and prompt restoration after outages.
Growth centers on extending Glo Fiber into communities near the existing network. That requires substantial construction spending and enough customers signing up to support the investment. Local franchises governing its data and cable television services impose operating and customer-service requirements and need periodic renewal; losing a franchise in a key market could force it to stop serving that area.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Telephone and Data Systems Inc., through TDS Telecom, shares Shentel’s challenge of growing broadband while older services decline: both sell internet, video and voice to households and businesses over fiber, cable and legacy telephone networks in smaller U.S. markets. Watch TDS Telecom’s broadband customer growth and cable customer retention as comparisons for Shentel’s expansion and established networks.
Uniti Group Inc. competes with Shentel in overlapping regions for households buying fiber internet and businesses buying network connections; both depend on turning fiber coverage into paying customers. Watch Uniti’s residential fiber customer growth relative to its fiber-equipped households for a comparison with Shentel’s Glo Fiber expansion.
Verizon Communications competes with Shentel for household and business broadband customers in overlapping eastern U.S. markets, offering internet over fiber and wireless connections to fixed locations.
Lumen Technologies, Inc. competes with Shentel for enterprise and telecom-provider spending on fiber network connections. Lumen’s business connectivity results are the relevant comparison for Shentel’s Commercial Fiber revenue, rather than residential broadband, after Lumen sold its home-fiber business in February 2026.
AT&T Inc. competes with Shentel for U.S. business network customers and, where their coverage overlaps, households buying broadband through fiber or wireless internet.
ATN International, Inc and Shentel both need paying broadband customers to make regional network investment worthwhile in smaller markets, selling internet connections to households and businesses. Watch how many homes covered by ATN’s broadband network become customers as a comparison for customer take-up in Shentel’s Glo Fiber expansion markets.
AT&T Inc. earningsT
AT&T's report will show whether demand for broadband and business network services is strong in the markets where it competes with Shentel.
Look at AT&T's broadband customer growth and business network results. Strength in both would show that households and companies are buying these services, but also that Shentel faces a capable competitor. Weakness could mean less competitive pressure, or simply softer demand; it would not prove Shentel is winning customers. The report is a signal about the shared market, not a measure of Shentel's own customer changes.
Shenandoah Telecom Co earningsThis company
Shentel's report will show whether Glo Fiber's expanding footprint is turning into paying customers and revenue fast enough to offset pressure in its established markets.
Read Glo Fiber broadband customer growth and revenue against the expansion in homes passed. Then check whether data customers and revenue in Shentel's established markets are holding up, and how capital spending compares with operating cash flow. More customers and revenue as coverage expands, alongside stable established markets, would show growth is offsetting pressure on the older business. If customer growth lags coverage, established markets keep weakening, or capital spending remains far above operating cash flow, the expansion has not yet offset that pressure and still needs outside funding.
Lumen Technologies, Inc. earningsLUMN
Lumen Technologies' report will show whether companies and telecom providers are spending on fiber connections, a demand signal for Shentel's commercial fiber business.
Focus on Lumen's business connectivity results, not residential broadband. Steady or improving results would suggest companies and telecom providers are still buying fiber connections, supporting the demand backdrop for Shentel's commercial fiber services. Weakness would point to more cautious spending by those customers and a tougher demand environment for Shentel's commercial fiber revenue. The businesses are not identical, so this is a market signal, not a result for Shentel.
Telephone and Data Systems Inc. earningsTDS
Telephone and Data Systems' report will show whether a regional provider can grow broadband while retaining cable customers, a useful comparison for Shentel's expansion and established markets.
Read TDS Telecom's broadband customer growth alongside its cable customer retention. Broadband growth with stable cable customers would suggest a regional provider can add internet customers while keeping much of its established base, a useful sign for Shentel's expansion and older markets. Weak broadband growth with faster cable losses would point to pressure on both. TDS's results cannot replace Shentel's own customer figures, but they show the challenges facing a similar network business.
Uniti Group Inc. earningsUNIT
Uniti Group's report will show whether residential fiber coverage is turning into paying customers, a direct comparison for Shentel's Glo Fiber expansion.
Read Uniti's residential fiber customer growth against the number of homes its fiber network reaches. If customers grow as coverage expands, that suggests the network is attracting paying households, supporting the case for Shentel's Glo Fiber expansion. If coverage grows faster than customers, it shows that building the network does not by itself bring customers quickly; Shentel's new coverage alone would not prove the expansion is working.
