Company overview

Small and emerging biotechnology companies pay Scinai Immunotherapeutics to turn drug candidates into materials for clinical trials. Through Scinai Bioservices, it develops production processes, manufactures drugs to customer specifications, and tests and prepares them for use. Customers typically retain ownership of the drug’s intellectual property. Its acquisition of Recipharm Israel and commercial collaboration with Recipharm broadened its offering from biologics into small-molecule development and manufacturing. Service revenue depends on winning repeat work and on customers having the funding to continue their programs.

Scinai also develops its own treatments, including NanoAbs targeting IL-17 for conditions such as psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, although it is reassessing that program’s direction. These programs generate no product revenue. Its NanoAb development depends on licensed rights from the Max Planck Society and University Medical Center Göttingen, which require it to meet contractual and development obligations. Its drug candidates cannot be sold in the United States without FDA approval. Service revenue does not yet cover operations, so continued activity depends on additional financing, cost reductions and managing liabilities.

Scinai's near-term revenue depends on expanding its drug development and manufacturing services for other companies (CDMO), including its broader small-molecule offering and long-term commercial collaboration with Recipharm, while its therapeutic programs generate no product revenue.

  • MoonLake Immunotherapeutics directly challenges Scinai's IL-17 NanoAbs ambitions in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis with SLK, a Nanobody that blocks IL-17A and IL-17F and is still in clinical development, not on sale. SLK's trial and approval progress in these diseases matters because a superior or earlier-to-market treatment could narrow Scinai's commercial opportunity.

  • Novartis develops and sells prescription medicines for the same inflammatory conditions targeted by Scinai's IL-17 NanoAbs program, putting it in competition for those patients. Progress toward better treatments or earlier approvals in these conditions could reduce the opportunity for Scinai's still-developing medicines.

  • Eli Lilly develops and sells medicines in the same inflammatory treatment areas as Scinai's IL-17 NanoAbs program, so its success can make Scinai's future medicines harder to sell. Watch whether Lilly brings treatments to market that offer patients better outcomes and payers better value—the qualities it identifies as central to its competitiveness.

  • Bristol Myers Squibb develops and sells medicines that give patients alternatives in the disease areas targeted by Scinai's IL-17 program; the competition is not limited to drugs that block IL-17. Better treatments or earlier approvals in those areas could leave less room for Scinai's NanoAbs.

Scinai Immunotherapeutics still relies on financing to cover operating cash use, and this report will show whether revenue from its CDMO customer work is growing enough to ease that need.
