PTC helps manufacturers connect product design with the information teams need to introduce, improve and service products. Creo supports computer-aided design, while Windchill helps manage product information and make it accessible across the business. Product lifecycle management brings in more revenue than design software.
Customers pay mainly through subscriptions, alongside support and cloud-service contracts, so almost all revenue is recurring. PTC generally bills subscriptions annually. Its own sales force handles most sales and focuses on large accounts; resellers help reach smaller businesses.
The business depends heavily on manufacturers’ willingness to spend on software and on existing customers renewing, upgrading and using more PTC products. Moving customers to cloud-delivered software also depends on partners that help implement the software and third-party providers that run cloud infrastructure. Trade and economic sanctions restrict where and with whom PTC can do business.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
PTC’s results hinge on manufacturers’ spending on product-design and product-lifecycle software, making Dassault Systèmes and Siemens important competitors to watch beyond this list.
Autodesk’s Inventor and Fusion compete with PTC’s Creo and Onshape for manufacturers’ product-design software budgets. This rivalry matters to PTC’s CAD revenue, which grew 19% in FY2025, primarily driven by Creo.
SAP competes with PTC for enterprises’ purchases of software that manages service throughout its lifecycle. SAP earns revenue from cloud subscriptions, software licenses and support, so this tie concerns its service-management offerings rather than its whole business.
International Business Machines competes with PTC’s Codebeamer and related products for enterprises’ spending on software that manages the software-development lifecycle. That is the relevant overlap for PTC investors, rather than IBM’s broader cloud, AI, consulting and infrastructure business.
Salesforce competes with PTC’s service-lifecycle offerings for businesses’ service-management software budgets. Salesforce primarily sells subscriptions to businesses across almost every industry, so the relevant overlap is service management, not its entire customer-relationship software business.
International Business Machines Corporation earningsIBM
IBM's report will show how enterprise spending on software-development lifecycle tools is changing, the budget area where it competes with PTC's Codebeamer.
Focus on IBM's demand for software-development lifecycle tools, not its broader cloud, AI or consulting results. Stronger demand would suggest enterprise budgets and adoption remain supportive for PTC's competing products; weaker demand would point to tighter spending in the market PTC serves.
SAP SE earningsSAP
SAP's report will show how demand for its service-management software is changing, in the same budget category as PTC's service-lifecycle products.
Look for demand tied to SAP's service-management offerings; its overall mix of cloud subscriptions, software licenses and support does not isolate that business. Stronger relevant demand would show customers still fund these tools, while SAP competes for that spending; weaker demand would suggest softer category demand, even as competitive pressure may ease for PTC.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Fed’s rate decision signals the direction of borrowing costs across the economy, which can change the interest PTC pays on its variable-rate credit-facility borrowings and term loan.

If it comes in above expectations
If rates rise more than expected, interest expense on PTC’s variable-rate borrowings may increase, leaving less of its operating cash flow available for debt payments and other spending.
If it comes in below expectations
If rates rise less than expected or fall, interest expense on PTC’s variable-rate borrowings may be lower than otherwise, leaving more operating cash flow for debt payments and other spending.
PTC, INC earningsThis company
PTC relies mainly on recurring software subscriptions and support, and this report will show whether customers expanding their use of its products and moving to SaaS are sustaining that growth.
Read recurring revenue alongside cloud-services revenue. Growth in both would show that customers are renewing or expanding software use while the move to SaaS advances. Weak recurring revenue, or cloud growth that lags, would point to softer customer demand or a slower transition, leaving the durability of growth in question.
Autodesk Inc earningsADSK
Autodesk's report will show how manufacturers' demand for product-design software is changing; Inventor and Fusion compete with PTC's Creo and Onshape for that spending.
Focus on demand for Autodesk's Inventor and Fusion, not its entire design-software business. Stronger demand would show manufacturers still fund product-design tools, while also signaling active competition for PTC's CAD products; weaker demand would suggest tighter category budgets, easing competitive pressure but shrinking the market opportunity.
