Patriot National Bancorp’s only material operating business is Patriot Bank, N.A., which serves individuals and businesses through branches in Connecticut and New York and through digital channels. Customer deposits provide its main funding for loans and investments. Borrowers pay interest, and the bank also earns interest on securities and cash; what remains after funding costs is its main source of income. Commercial real estate accounts for most of its loan book.
The bank also provides payment processing, card-program sponsorship and settlement services to financial technology firms, payment processors and program managers. Institutional banking is its largest source of non-interest income. This business depends on activity routed through program managers and on their operations and controls. Digital-payments clients also supply deposits, which can be concentrated and withdrawn quickly.
Following a recapitalization, the bank is shifting toward closer banking relationships with wealthy households, entrepreneurs and businesses while reducing legacy portfolios. It plans to emphasize secured lending and attract more relationship-based deposits. Its earnings depend on retaining funding at an acceptable cost and on borrowers’ ability to repay, including commercial-property borrowers.
The bank operates under a formal agreement with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency requiring improvements to capital planning, anti-money-laundering controls, payment oversight and credit management. Its regulatory designation as being in troubled condition can constrain expansion and new activities. The parent relies primarily on bank distributions, which require prior written regulatory non-objection.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Patriot’s results hinge on property and business borrowers repaying their loans, rebuilding lending margins after its recapitalization, and deposits and fees from digital-payments program managers—drivers this list only partly captures.
Unity Bancorp and Patriot both use customer deposits to fund property lending, so borrowers’ ability to repay and the gap between loan interest earned and deposit interest paid matter to both. Unity also held Patriot shares: gains on that position materially lifted its 2025 noninterest income, so separate those gains from its banking results when comparing lending margins.
NBT Bancorp Inc competes with Patriot for customers taking out loans and placing deposits in Connecticut and New York. NBT’s loan and deposit competition in those markets offers a comparison for Patriot’s effort to attract lasting customer deposits.

NBT Bancorp's report will show whether the cost of attracting deposits is rising for a bank that competes with Patriot National Bancorp for funding.
Read NBT's deposit growth alongside its deposit costs. If deposits rise without a marked increase in cost, NBT is attracting funding without paying much more, a less costly competitive backdrop for Patriot. If deposits are flat or falling while costs rise, watch for deposit competition that could also push up Patriot's funding costs. NBT's companywide figures are a signal about the competitive environment, not proof that the two banks have the same deposit results in any particular market.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
For Patriot National Bancorp, the Fed’s rate decision signals how borrowing costs may change: rates on its loans and securities can lift interest income, while rates it pays on deposits and borrowings can raise interest expense and change net interest income.

If it comes in above expectations
If the Fed raises rates more than expected, yields on Patriot National Bancorp’s loans and securities may rise, but deposit and borrowing costs may also increase; the change in net interest income depends on how quickly each reprices.
If it comes in below expectations
If the Fed raises rates less than expected, or cuts them more than expected, yields on Patriot National Bancorp’s loans and securities may rise less or fall, while deposit and borrowing costs may also rise less or fall; the net effect depends on how quickly each reprices.

Patriot National Bancorp's report will show whether income from its deposit-funded loans and digital-payments services is keeping pace with funding costs, credit losses and control-remediation expenses.
Read recurring income against the costs it must carry: how much interest remains after paying for deposits and other funding, and whether fees from digital-payments clients add to that income. Then see whether credit losses and operating expenses absorb the gains. Steadier interest and fee income with contained losses and expenses would show the bank is better able to support itself through its core business; weaker income or rising losses and expenses would show that earnings remain under pressure.
Unity Bancorp earningsUNTY
Unity Bancorp's report will show how deposit costs and the returns and credit risks on property lending bear on the same deposit-funded banking economics at Patriot National Bancorp.
Read Unity's net interest margin—the gap between interest earned on loans and other assets and the cost of deposits and other funding—alongside its credit costs. A wider margin with contained credit costs would suggest more room in its deposit-funded lending business, a useful but not conclusive peer signal for Patriot; a narrowing margin or rising credit costs would point to greater pressure on those economics. Keep any gains Unity reports on its Patriot shares separate from its ordinary banking results; those gains do not show that Patriot's own business improved.
