OneSpan helps banks and other organizations verify users and protect online transactions and mobile applications. Cybersecurity generates most of its revenue: customers pay for authentication software, including passkeys and multi-factor authentication, and buy Digipass authentication devices. Software runs in the cloud or on customers’ own systems. Financial institutions supply most revenue, and OneSpan sells both directly and through channel partners. Subscription licensing is its main source of income.
Its smaller Digital Agreements business helps organizations verify identities and complete agreements online. Customers subscribe to cloud services including OneSpan Sign for electronic signatures, OneSpan Notary for online notarization, and OneSpan Identity Verification.
The business depends heavily on financial institutions’ technology budgets and adoption of its authentication products. Banks’ shift toward mobile authentication has reduced Digipass device sales and increased software-license sales; OneSpan must keep its offerings aligned with customers’ move toward passkeys. Privacy rules govern how it processes personal and biometric data and transfers data across borders, while export controls and sanctions restrict where certain products can be sold.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
OneSpan’s results hinge chiefly on financial institutions’ authentication spending; key rivals missing here are Thales’ Gemalto, Yubico and RSA Security in authentication, and Adobe in electronic signatures.
DocuSign competes with OneSpan for businesses’ and government institutions’ spending on tools to send and sign agreements and manage the steps around them. Watch DocuSign’s electronic-signature business and agreement-workflow offerings for competitive pressure on OneSpan Sign.
Jack Henry and OneSpan both depend on banks’ and credit unions’ investment in digital banking: those customers pay Jack Henry for banking systems and electronic payment services, and OneSpan for secure identity checks and agreement tools. Jack Henry’s cloud-service and recurring electronic-payment revenue offers a view of spending by community and regional banks and credit unions, rather than a direct measure of demand for OneSpan’s authentication products.

OneSpan’s report will show whether growing software and cloud subscriptions from banks can offset declining Digipass device sales.
Read subscription revenue and annual recurring revenue (ARR—the annualized value of active subscription, term-license, and maintenance contracts) alongside net retention rate (NRR—the year-over-year ARR change for the prior-year customer set, reflecting expansion, contraction, and churn). Subscription growth and rising ARR with stable or improving NRR would show customer expansion and new business taking up the slack from declining devices; slowing ARR growth or further NRR erosion would show weaker expansion and software growth failing to keep pace with the Digipass decline.
Henry (Jack) & Associates earningsJKHY
Jack Henry’s cloud-service and electronic-payment revenue will show whether community and regional banks and credit unions are sustaining digital-banking spending that it shares with OneSpan.
Look for growth in Jack Henry’s cloud-service and electronic-payment revenue. Strength in both would indicate that community and regional banks and credit unions are still investing in digital banking, supporting demand for OneSpan’s authentication and agreement tools among the same customers; weakness would suggest tighter related budgets and fewer sales opportunities for OneSpan, but would not directly establish demand for its security products.
DocuSign, Inc. earningsDOCU
DocuSign’s electronic-signature and agreement-workflow business will show how demand is holding up among businesses and government institutions that it competes with OneSpan to serve.
Look for strength in DocuSign’s electronic-signature business and agreement-workflow offerings. Growth in both would indicate businesses and government institutions are still buying tools to send, sign, and manage agreements, supporting the market for OneSpan Sign; weakness would suggest shared customers are pulling back on this spending, making OneSpan’s agreement-software sales harder to win.
