Nuwellis serves patients whose excess fluid has not responded to medicines such as diuretics. Its Aquadex System filters fluid from the blood, a treatment called ultrafiltration. Hospitals and clinics, primarily in the United States, buy the consoles and disposable blood circuits and catheters through the company’s direct salesforce. These products generate most of its revenue, with pediatric and critical-care treatment accounting for the majority of the business.
Aquadex is Nuwellis’s only commercial product, so revenue depends on hospitals adopting it and continuing to use its disposable supplies. Its sales team trains and supports hospital staff. A small group of major customers accounts for a substantial share of sales. Nuwellis also relies exclusively on KDI Precision Manufacturing to assemble its consoles, blood circuits and catheters, while retaining product design, sales and customer support.
Healthcare providers pay Nuwellis for the products and seek reimbursement from insurers and other third-party payers for covered treatments; coverage varies. Aquadex is cleared for hospitalized adults and children who meet its minimum weight requirement and whose fluid overload has not responded to medical management. Nuwellis cannot promote uses outside FDA clearance, even though clinicians may choose such uses independently.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Nuwellis hinges on hospitals choosing Aquadex over standard diuretics or indirect alternatives such as Baxter’s Prismaflex, while KDI Precision Manufacturing now assembles its consoles, circuits and catheters.
Outset Medical offers hospitals an indirect alternative to Nuwellis’s dedicated Aquadex fluid-removal system by selling Tablo blood-dialysis consoles and treatment cartridges. Watch hospital adoption of Tablo and its support for hospitals running their own dialysis services, where Aquadex must show why dedicated fluid removal is preferable.
SeaStar Medical and Nuwellis both depend on hospitals adopting treatments for critically ill children: SeaStar sells QUELIMMUNE for acute kidney injury, while Nuwellis sells Aquadex for fluid overload, although their distribution agreement has ended. Watch new QUELIMMUNE hospital customers as a sign of adoption in overlapping critical-care settings; pediatric treatment accounted for about 40% of Nuwellis’s 2025 revenue.
Medtronic overlaps with Nuwellis’s hospital market through its kidney-device venture Mozarc and the cited Carpediem system for pediatric kidney injury and fluid overload. Watch developments in those pediatric treatments rather than Medtronic’s broader business: pediatric care generated about 40% of Nuwellis’s revenue in 2025.

Outset Medical's report will show whether hospitals are adopting its Tablo dialysis system, an indirect alternative competing for attention with Nuwellis's dedicated fluid-removal system.
Look for evidence of hospital adoption of Tablo and support for hospitals running their own dialysis services. More adoption with support in place would show hospitals are leaning into this alternative, so Nuwellis's Aquadex must make the case for dedicated fluid removal; weak adoption would mean this route has not yet shown much pull with hospitals.

Nuwellis sells Aquadex systems to hospitals and clinics, and this report will show whether sales are recovering as the shift to KDI manufacturing changes product costs.
Read net sales alongside gross margin, the share of sales left after product costs. Rising sales with an improving margin would show hospitals and clinics buying more without manufacturing costs eating up the gain. Rising sales with a weak margin would mean cost or pricing pressure remains, so the added revenue is not yet improving product economics.
