Company

Company overview

NextTrip helps travelers book hotels, vacation rentals, cruises and travel packages, directly or through travel advisors. Its NXT2.0 platform powers its booking websites, including Five Star Alliance, which focuses on luxury travel. Travel bookings generate most of the company’s revenue. Suppliers generally set prices and pay commissions on Five Star Alliance bookings; for most NXT2.0 products, NextTrip negotiates directly with suppliers and sets the traveler’s price, earning a markup. It also charges service fees.

Its smaller Media business sells advertising, sponsorships, branded content and destination-marketing campaigns through JOURNY.tv and Travel Magazine. These outlets also direct audiences toward NextTrip’s bookings, linking travel content to travel sales.

The business is still at an early stage, with small and variable revenue. Building it depends on attracting travelers, expanding supplier relationships and raising capital for marketing and product development. Revenue does not cover operating needs, so NextTrip relies on external financing to keep operating and carry out its plans.

NextTrip’s results hinge on funding its rollout and growing travel bookings; watch Signature Travel Network, which supplies cruise inventory and provided a membership-related payment that helped drive fiscal 2026 revenue growth.

  • Expedia both competes for NextTrip’s online travel customers and supplies worldwide hotel options through a software connection, or API; both earn money from arranging travelers’ bookings. That supply broadens NextTrip’s hotel choice, but these third-party bookings generally carry lower margins than bookings under its direct supplier contracts.

  • Travelzoo competes with NextTrip by combining travel media with supplier offers, earning fees from travel advertisers and commissions from bookings. Its revenue from publishing travel offers and hotel bookings is the part to watch alongside NextTrip’s efforts to turn its media audience into advertising income and travel sales.

  • Booking Holdings’ Booking.com competes directly with NextTrip for travelers buying hotel and other accommodation stays; NextTrip earns commissions, markups and service fees on those bookings. Accommodation reservations account for most of Booking Holdings’ revenue from collecting travelers’ payments and almost all of its agency revenue, making that business the clearest comparison for NextTrip’s lodging bookings.

  • Tripadvisor competes with NextTrip to turn travel-content audiences into bookings, hotel referrals and advertising revenue. Tripadvisor’s commissions on completed experience bookings offer a concrete comparison for NextTrip’s effort to turn viewers of JOURNY.tv and Travel Magazine into paying travel customers.

  • Airbnb competes with NextTrip for travelers booking vacation rentals and other leisure accommodation, connecting guests with hosts through its website and app. That accommodation business overlaps with the bookings on which NextTrip earns commissions, markups and service fees.
