Company

Company overview

Nortech Systems Inc helps equipment makers turn designs into finished products, from medical devices to industrial and defense equipment. Customers pay it to help design and test products, source components and manufacture them, with most sales coming from products built to each customer’s specifications. Medical devices and medical imaging together provide most revenue. Its work typically involves many product variants made in small-to-medium batches rather than mass production of a few standard products.

The business depends on customers’ production orders, and its largest customer provides a substantial share of sales. Nortech often buys materials before customers pay, so order delays, cancellations or design changes can leave cash tied up in unused components. Customer contracts generally require customers to buy that inventory, but reimbursement may be delayed or incomplete.

Medical-device manufacturing must meet FDA requirements for quality, testing and documentation. Its U.S. facilities must also comply with ITAR rules for defense-related manufacturing, making regulatory compliance part of its ability to serve these customers.

Nortech's results depend on concentrated equipment-maker orders, especially in medical devices and imaging, with one unnamed customer accounting for 32.2% of 2025 sales.

  • SANUWAVE Health, Inc. buys generator and treatment-wand components from Nortech for its ultrasound wound-care products, making it a direct customer of Nortech's manufacturing business. Watch sales of UltraMIST systems—the product line also includes consumables, so SANUWAVE's total revenue is not a direct measure of component orders.

  • Varex Imaging Corporation and Nortech both depend on medical imaging equipment makers' production: Varex sells them customized X-ray components, while Nortech builds assemblies for them. Varex's Medical segment sales offer a view of that customer market, which drove Nortech's imaging growth in 2025 through higher existing-customer volume from new program awards.

  • Espey Mfg. & Electronics Corp overlaps with Nortech in making, wiring and testing electronics to industrial and military equipment makers' specifications, but specializes in power products for harsh conditions. Its fiscal 2026 growth came mainly from magnetic components and field-service work, partly offset by lower power-supply sales—a narrower mix than Nortech's assembly business.
