Niu Technologies earns most of its revenue from vehicle sales, with mainland China supplying the bulk of its business. Its vehicles include NQi electric scooters and KQi kick-scooters. In China, exclusive local distributors called city partners buy vehicles below retail price and supply franchised stores that sell to riders. Niu earns from these product sales, not franchise fees. It also sells to overseas distributors and retailers and directly to consumers online; accessories, spare parts and services contribute much less revenue.
The NIU app connects to compatible scooters to provide anti-theft alerts, battery and riding information, and diagnostics. Sales depend on keeping the NIU brand appealing, launching models riders want and maintaining its Chinese store network. Niu buys batteries, motors and other components and assembles vehicles mainly at its own facilities, so component and manufacturing costs strongly affect profitability.
Vehicles must meet local safety standards. In China, electric bicycles also need compulsory certification before sale, and non-compliant models can be barred from the market.
Most revenue comes through a Chinese operating entity that Niu controls by contract rather than owns directly, known as a variable interest entity, or VIE. This structure accommodates foreign-investment restrictions on certain services. Access to that business and its economic benefits depends on those contracts being honored and enforceable.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Gogoro competes with Niu Technologies for urban riders buying branded smart electric scooters, but riders also pay Gogoro recurring subscriptions to swap batteries, and nearly all its revenue comes from Taiwan. Its scooter sales are the closer comparison for NIU; battery-subscription revenue reflects a different business model.
VinFast Auto competes with Niu Technologies for buyers seeking electric scooters and e-bikes, though its business centers on Vietnam rather than China. Watch its two-wheeler deliveries rather than its passenger-EV sales for the comparison with NIU.
Fly-E Group, Inc. competes with Niu Technologies' overseas offerings by selling electric motorcycles, bikes and scooters to U.S. customers through stores, distributors and its website. Its sales to food delivery workers—who make up most of its New York City customer base—show a narrower customer market than NIU's overseas product range.
Honda Motor competes with Niu Technologies for two-wheel transport buyers: Honda sells commuter motorcycles and scooters, while NIU sells electric mopeds and motorcycles. Honda's broader automobile business makes its overall results a less direct comparison for NIU.
Gogoro Inc. earningsGGR
Gogoro competes with Niu for urban riders buying branded electric scooters, so its report will show whether demand for this shared product category is holding up.
Focus on Gogoro's scooter sales, not its battery-swapping subscription revenue, which reflects a different business model. Stronger scooter sales would indicate that urban riders are still buying branded electric scooters, supporting demand in a category Niu also serves. Weaker sales would point to softer shared-category demand, though Gogoro's Taiwan concentration and subscription model mean its results are not a direct read-through to Niu.

Niu earns most of its revenue from e-scooters, and this report will show whether sales growth is also lifting revenue and gross profit per scooter.
Read e-scooter unit sales alongside revenue per e-scooter and gross margin. More units with revenue per scooter and margin holding or rising would show growth without relying on lower prices or a cheaper product mix. More units but falling revenue per scooter or margin would mean the added volume is bringing in less value per scooter.
