Lifezone Metals Limited is developing Kabanga in Tanzania, its sole metals-extraction project. It plans to earn money by selling mainly nickel, with cobalt and copper contributing less. Production has not begun. Its current revenue comes entirely from outside customers paying Simulus for laboratory and technical services; those fees are small relative to Kabanga’s development funding needs.
The company also develops Hydromet refining technology, which it intends to use in refineries it owns or operates and license to others. The technology has not been deployed commercially, and no active refinery licenses it. A planned U.S. platinum-group-metals recycling facility with Glencore remains subject to pilot work, a feasibility study, agreements and investment decisions. If it proceeds, Glencore would be the sole buyer of its refined metals.
Kabanga depends on substantial additional financing and outside mining expertise. Lifezone is responsible for raising the development funding, and the project must secure Tanzanian permits and comply with local-content requirements governing labor and suppliers. A financial model setting out how the government receives its share of project income also remains unfinished and must be agreed before the final investment decision.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Lifezone’s prospects hinge chiefly on financing and developing Kabanga and turning its processing technology into a commercial business, including U.S. platinum-group-metal recycling with Glencore.
NexMetals Mining Corp. shares Lifezone’s exposure to nickel prices and the financing needed to bring African mines into production: NexMetals is advancing nickel-bearing mines in Botswana, while Lifezone develops Kabanga. Watch financing and mine-economics news from NexMetals; as of its report, it had earned no revenue and had not proved its projects economically viable.
TMC the metals company Inc. and Lifezone both depend on whether new nickel supply can become a viable commercial business: TMC plans to collect seabed nodules and process them into metals for sale, while Lifezone develops Kabanga. Watch TMC’s progress toward commercial nickel production, rather than its potential production rankings; its processing route was tested at industrial scale during PAMCO’s feasibility study completed in 2025.

NexMetals Mining’s report will show how financing and mine economics are developing for its Botswana nickel projects, offering a comparison for Lifezone Metals’ challenge of funding Kabanga in Tanzania.
Look for financing progress alongside evidence that the projects’ economics can support funding. Progress on both would show that African nickel development can attract capital, giving Lifezone a relevant comparison for Kabanga; weak economics or stalled financing would point to a harder funding path for similar projects and leave Lifezone’s capital challenge unresolved.

TMC the metals company’s report will show whether its seabed-nodule processing route is advancing from industrial-scale testing toward commercial nickel production, a comparison for Lifezone Metals’ development of Kabanga.
Look for concrete progress from industrial-scale testing toward commercial production. Continued progress would show that a new nickel project may be able to bridge the gap between testing and selling metal, a relevant comparison for Kabanga; no progress would leave that commercial route unproven, so Lifezone could not treat test results as proof of project viability.
