Kimball Electronics makes products to customers’ specifications rather than selling its own branded products. Customers pay it to source components, assemble and test products, and provide engineering support from prototypes through ongoing production. Its global factories make electronic assemblies as well as medical devices, disposables and precision molded plastic parts. Automotive is its largest revenue source, followed by medical and industrial work.
The business relies heavily on customer production programs. Nexteer Automotive is its largest customer, and Philips and ZF also supply substantial revenue. Customers typically do not commit to firm production schedules beyond a quarter, so revenue depends on their orders and on winning new programs to replace those that end. Production also depends on timely component deliveries, including semiconductors.
Medical manufacturing must meet applicable product and quality regulations. Missing required registrations or certifications, or failing regulatory inspections, can delay deliveries or suspend production.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Kimball Electronics’ results also hinge on orders from Nexteer Automotive, Philips and ZF, which together accounted for 40% of fiscal 2026 sales.
Flex competes directly with Kimball Electronics for customers paying to have automotive electronics, industrial products, medical devices and drug-delivery products manufactured. Watch Flex’s Regulated Manufacturing Solutions business, where those overlapping customers sit, rather than its cloud infrastructure business.
Plexus competes with Kimball Electronics for customers outsourcing product design, manufacturing and support throughout a product’s life. Plexus’s work bringing customer designs into production is worth watching: it usually buys and stores the materials as well as assembling the product.
Benchmark Electronics competes with Kimball Electronics for medical and industrial equipment makers paying for the design and manufacture of high-reliability electronics. Its medical and industrial sales are the relevant lines to watch for this rivalry, rather than its semiconductor equipment business.
Jabil competes with Kimball Electronics for companies paying to outsource product engineering, circuit-board assembly and complete-system manufacturing. Watch its systems-assembly work, which can combine multiple assembled circuit boards into a finished system.
Sanmina competes with Kimball Electronics for equipment makers paying for electronic assembly, engineering and supply-chain management. Watch its efforts to sell several services within one customer program: both companies offer customers a single source for manufacturing and supply-chain needs.
KEY Tronic Corp competes with Kimball Electronics for equipment makers’ circuit-board assembly, engineering, plastics and complete-product manufacturing orders. Its emphasis on low-cost production and competitive pricing makes pricing on those contracts worth watching against Kimball’s stated challenge of maintaining margins.
Celestica competes with Kimball Electronics for industrial and medical equipment makers paying to outsource manufacturing. Watch the Industrial and HealthTech businesses within its Advanced Technology Solutions segment for this overlap, rather than its cloud and server business.
CTS Corporation and Kimball Electronics share exposure to automotive production and industrial and medical equipment demand: CTS sells sensors and actuators to manufacturers and their suppliers, while Kimball makes assemblies for those markets. CTS’s transportation, industrial and medical sales offer a view of demand in those overlapping markets.
CTS Corporation earningsCTS
CTS Corporation sells sensors and actuators to transportation, industrial and medical manufacturers and their suppliers, so its sales in those markets offer a signal about demand for Kimball Electronics’ assembly work.
Check whether CTS’s transportation, industrial and medical sales are growing, and whether the lines move together. Strength across the overlapping markets would suggest manufacturers are still buying products, a healthier demand backdrop for Kimball Electronics; weakness would flag softer end demand, but CTS component sales do not translate directly into Kimball’s assembly orders.
Flex Ltd. earningsFLEX
Flex’s Regulated Manufacturing Solutions business covers automotive, industrial and medical products that overlap with Kimball Electronics, showing how this direct competitor is faring in those markets.
Focus on Flex’s Regulated Manufacturing Solutions sales, not its cloud infrastructure business. Stronger sales would suggest customers in the overlapping markets are still placing work, supporting the demand backdrop Kimball Electronics faces; weaker sales would point to softer program activity, but would not prove Kimball lost orders.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Kimball Electronics’ Fed-linked borrowing costs can rise or fall with US interest rates, changing the interest it pays on its $116.6 million of variable-rate credit-facility borrowings and the profit left over.

If it comes in above expectations
If the Fed sets rates higher than expected, interest costs on borrowings that reprice may rise, leaving Kimball Electronics with less profit after interest.
If it comes in below expectations
If the Fed sets rates lower than expected, interest costs on borrowings that reprice may ease, leaving Kimball Electronics with more profit after interest.
KEY Tronic Corp earningsKTCC
KEY Tronic Corp pursues contract-manufacturing orders with low-cost production and competitive pricing, so its sales and margins offer clues about price pressure on Kimball Electronics’ contracts.
Read KEY Tronic’s sales alongside its margins. Stable sales and margins would suggest it can compete on price while controlling costs. A thinner margin, especially with falling sales, would point to harder-to-absorb pricing or cost pressure and potentially less room for Kimball Electronics to price similar contracts. Margin changes alone do not prove KEY Tronic cut prices.
Kimball Electronics, Inc. earningsThis company
Kimball Electronics makes products for automotive, medical and industrial customers, and this report will show whether their orders support sales and whether factory costs are eroding its margin.
Read automotive, medical and industrial sales alongside gross margin, the share of sales left after manufacturing costs. Steady sales with a stable or rising margin would suggest the mix of programs and cost control are supporting production. Falling sales with a shrinking margin would point to weaker customer demand or underused capacity, leaving profit more exposed.
