Company

Company overview

CTS Corporation makes components that give electronic systems inputs, connect and synchronize systems, or produce movement: sensors, connectivity components and actuators. Equipment manufacturers and their major suppliers buy these parts for transportation, industrial, medical, and aerospace and defense products; CTS also sells to the U.S. Government. Most sales come through CTS’s sales engineers, who work with large customers to develop parts for their specific requirements, rather than through distributors selling standard components.

Transportation is its largest market. A substantial share of revenue comes from a small group of customers, including Toyota and Cummins, which buy parts for particular vehicle platforms. Customer volume estimates generally are not firm commitments, so revenue depends on the orders customers actually place and their production levels.

Manufacturing also depends on essential materials and parts, some sourced from a limited number of suppliers or a single supplier. CTS handles hazardous materials and must meet environmental and safety requirements; changes to or loss of permits can limit or halt production at affected facilities.

Cummins, absent from this list, accounted for 8.4% of CTS sales in 2025, making its commercial-vehicle production another important driver to watch.

  • Sensata competes with CTS to supply vehicle makers and their direct suppliers with sensors tailored to particular vehicle platforms. Watch which platforms select Sensata’s sensors: it says customers rarely replace them during a platform’s typical five-to-seven-year life, limiting openings for rivals such as CTS.

  • Littelfuse overlaps with CTS in selling sensing products to vehicle makers and their direct suppliers, and electronic components to industrial customers. Its sensing business for passenger and commercial vehicles and its industrial component sales are the relevant areas to watch for demand among customers both companies serve.

  • Toyota buys CTS parts for vehicle platforms and accounted for 11.2% of CTS sales in 2025, so changes in its orders directly matter to CTS. Watch Toyota’s parts orders for those platforms rather than its financial-services revenue.

  • KNOWLES CORPORATION and CTS both depend on defense, medical and industrial equipment customers choosing their customized electronic components and putting equipment into production. Watch Knowles’ business supplying custom capacitors and radio-frequency components to those markets for a read on demand also relevant to CTS’s sensors, connectivity components and actuators.

    Industrial Production MoM (Oct)

Industrial production and capacity use track how much factories, mines and utilities produce relative to their ability to produce; stronger activity can increase industrial and transportation customers’ purchases of CTS components, while weaker activity can reduce sales and leave CTS with excess capacity.
