Most of Hubbell’s revenue comes from equipment utilities use to transmit and distribute electricity, measure usage and protect and control the grid. Its Utility Solutions business supplies components such as connectors, insulators and switches, alongside smart meters and communications systems. Distributors buy these products for resale to utilities, and utilities also buy directly from Hubbell.
Electrical Solutions supplies wiring, connection and grounding products used in industrial and commercial facilities, including data centers. It sells mainly through electrical and industrial distributors, which supply contractors, industrial customers and equipment manufacturers. Across Hubbell, distributors account for most sales.
The business depends heavily on utilities’ equipment purchases, with industrial and commercial demand supporting its other business. Hubbell does not depend on a single customer, although its largest customers together account for a substantial share of sales. Export controls and sanctions can prohibit overseas sales or require licenses that delay shipments.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Hubbell’s results depend chiefly on utility grid investment and electrical infrastructure spending, with Schneider Electric and Hitachi Energy important rivals to watch beyond this list.
Eaton and Hubbell compete to supply power-distribution and electrical equipment to utilities, industrial customers and data-center projects, tying both to those customers’ spending. Eaton’s expansion in modular power systems for multi-tenant and hyperscale data centers is worth watching for competitive pressure on Hubbell.
nVent Electric plc competes with Hubbell for utilities’, contractors’ and industrial customers’ spending on enclosures, electrical connections and buildings that house control equipment. Its control-building and enclosure business offers a concrete place to watch demand and competition in products both companies sell.
Itron Inc and Hubbell compete to sell utilities meters, communications networks and devices that control equipment at the edge of the grid. Watch Itron’s utility-meter project activity for signs of demand in the market whose weakness reduced Hubbell’s Grid Automation product volumes in 2025.
Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. competes with Hubbell’s PCX and Systems Control businesses to supply customized data-center power equipment and grid infrastructure. Watch its data-center and grid revenue: those markets supplied approximately 59% and 21% of its fiscal 2026 revenue, respectively, making them the clearest overlap with Hubbell.
Wesco International buys Hubbell products for resale, connecting Hubbell to customers buying electrical and utility infrastructure supplies. The two serve many of the same end markets, so Wesco’s news on utility and electrical-construction demand is relevant to Hubbell.
Atkore Inc. competes with Hubbell to supply electrical-support and infrastructure products for construction and industrial installations, exposing both to non-residential building spending. Its metal framing that supports electrical systems is a more direct competitive signal for Hubbell than its broader conduit and cable business.
TE Connectivity competes with Hubbell to supply energy and industrial customers with products that connect and distribute power, data and signals. Its Industrial Solutions business, rather than Transportation Solutions, is the part to watch for competition in connectors and related electrical products.
Vertiv competes with Hubbell’s PCX business to sell equipment that distributes power within data centers. Watch Vertiv’s switchgear and modular power offerings for the closest read on this rivalry, rather than its cooling products.
Badger Meter, Inc. competes with Hubbell’s Aclara business to sell water utilities connected measurement and communications systems. Its Utility Water product line, approximately 89% of 2025 net sales, is the clearest place to watch demand and competition affecting Aclara.

Badger Meter’s report will show whether water utilities are still buying connected measurement and communications systems, the market where it competes with Hubbell’s Aclara business.
Watch sales in Badger Meter’s Utility Water line. Steady or rising sales would show water utilities are continuing to buy connected measurement and communications systems, a supportive signal for Hubbell’s Aclara market; falling sales would point to softer demand or tougher competition facing Aclara.

Utility Solutions makes up nearly two-thirds of Hubbell’s sales, and this report will show whether grid projects and smart-meter activity are both bringing in orders.
Read Utility Solutions’ transmission and distribution sales alongside activity in meters, communications and grid-automation projects. Strength in both would show Hubbell’s largest business is growing beyond grid buildout; strong transmission demand but weak meter activity would leave growth concentrated in one area, with grid automation still lagging.
