Warrior Met Coal operates the underground Mine No. 4, Mine No. 7 and Blue Creek mines in Alabama. Its hard coking coal goes to steel producers that use blast furnaces, rather than to power plants as thermal coal. Nearly all its coal sales are to international customers, primarily in Asia, Europe and South America. Rail and barge routes carry coal to the Port of Mobile for export.
Customers pay by the metric ton, usually under supply contracts whose prices track coal-market indices. These contracts commit volumes rather than lock in prices; the company also makes some spot sales. Steelmaking coal supplies nearly all revenue. A smaller business sells gas removed from coal seams to reduce gas levels in the mines.
Earnings depend heavily on global steel demand and steelmaking-coal prices, and a small group of large customers accounts for most sales revenue. Blue Creek has begun longwall production but is still ramping up and needs further investment. Mining also depends on obtaining and renewing permits; safety regulators can restrict operating methods or close mines.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Alpha Metallurgical Resources and Warrior compete to sell coal used in steelmaking, so both depend on steel demand and metallurgical coal prices. Alpha’s sales to domestic and international steel and coke producers are the part to watch for conditions facing Warrior’s steel customers.
Ramaco Resources competes with Warrior for steelmaking coal customers in Europe, South America and Asia, including buyers of high-volatile coal. Watch Ramaco’s Elk Creek coal sales: its high-volatile A/B blends overlap with Warrior’s high-volatile offering from Mine No. 4 and Blue Creek.
Core Natural Resources’ Leer mines compete with Warrior to supply steelmakers with internationally traded steelmaking coal. Watch Leer’s production and costs rather than Core’s overall results, which also reflect substantial sales of coal used by power producers.
Peabody Energy competes directly with Warrior to sell seaborne steelmaking coal to steel manufacturers. Its Seaborne Metallurgical business is the relevant part to watch, rather than the larger thermal coal portfolio serving electricity generators and industrial customers.
BHP Group competes with Warrior through its Australian steelmaking coal operations, while its iron ore sales depend on the same steel-production cycle. Watch BMA’s steelmaking coal output for competing supply, rather than BHP’s overall earnings, which were more than half copper in FY2026.
Rio Tinto’s iron ore and Warrior’s steelmaking coal supply complementary raw materials to steel producers, so both depend on global steel production. Rio’s Iron Ore business is the part to watch for that shared demand, rather than its aluminium, lithium or copper businesses.
Ramaco Resources, Inc. earningsMETC
Ramaco Resources' report will show whether steelmakers' buying of high-volatility coal is intensifying competition for Warrior Met Coal's customers in Europe, South America and Asia.
Look at Ramaco's Elk Creek high-volatility coal sales and the prices it realizes. Firm sales and prices would suggest steelmakers are taking this supply, leaving Warrior's Mine No. 4 and Blue Creek better placed to sustain sales and pricing. Weakening sales or prices would point to tougher competition for overlapping buyers and less room for Warrior to hold its prices.

Warrior Met Coal's report will show whether Blue Creek's added coal sales can offset pressure from realized prices and per-ton costs.
Read coal tons sold alongside realized price and cash cost per ton. More tons with steadier prices and lower unit costs would show Blue Creek turning added output into saleable supply efficiently. If volume rises while realized prices fall or unit costs climb, coal mix, freight or ramp-up costs are eating into the gain.
