Forbright, Inc. operates through Forbright Bank, gathering consumer deposits online and deposits from businesses and other sources to finance small and medium-sized private businesses across the United States. Borrowers pay interest, and the interest left after paying depositors and other funding providers supplies most of its revenue. Healthcare is its largest lending business: it finances operations and properties for skilled nursing, seniors housing and behavioral health facilities. Loans secured by the assets of non-bank lenders and credit funds also make up a substantial part of its portfolio.
Forbright also earns fees by arranging and managing credit for others. Its Alliance Partners subsidiary manages BancAlliance, a community-bank network whose members buy loans that Forbright sources and receive loan advisory services. Its Solar Services business collects payments and administers residential solar loans owned by banks and other financial institutions, earning recurring fees without taking on those loans’ fixed-rate credit exposure.
The lending business depends on retaining deposits at rates that leave room to earn a spread; its digital deposits lean heavily on high-yield savings accounts. Healthcare lending also ties repayment to facility operations and government reimbursement rates. Regulatory capital requirements constrain lending capacity, and banking laws limit how much cash the Bank can transfer to the parent through dividends.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Forbright’s results hinge on digital deposit costs and specialty commercial credit quality; watch Axos for digital-banking comparisons and Oxford Finance for healthcare lending, though neither appears here.
First Citizens BancShares competes with Forbright for consumer deposits nationwide through digital banking and for specialized lending to middle-market businesses and investment firms. Watch the rates its Direct Bank offers savers as a comparison for Forbright’s deposit funding costs.
Primis Financial Corp. and Forbright both use digitally gathered deposits to fund lending and lend against business assets, linking them to deposit costs and borrowers’ ability to repay. Primis’s loans secured by receivables and inventory offer a concrete comparison for the asset-backed credit risks Forbright takes when lending to non-bank lenders.
First Business Financial Services, Inc. competes with Forbright to finance small and medium-sized businesses, with both relying on specialized expertise rather than extensive retail branch networks. Its lending to those businesses is the comparison to watch for loan demand and borrower credit quality.
Citizens Financial Group competes with Forbright for middle-market borrowers through banking businesses that reach national markets. Watch its financing to middle-market companies as a comparison for demand in Forbright’s Corporate Finance lending, which earns loan interest and fees from distributing loans.
Ares Management competes with Forbright by financing businesses and borrowers that pledge assets, using credit strategies managed for institutional and wealth investors rather than Forbright’s bank lending model. Watch its credit fundraising as a sign of the capital available to competing lenders.
Blue Owl Capital Inc.’s private-credit products compete for the middle-market borrowers that pay Forbright loan interest, while Blue Owl earns management fees from its investment products. Watch its capacity to provide follow-on financing: capital not subject to ordinary redemptions lets it keep supporting portfolio companies over time.
Truist Financial competes with Forbright for commercial borrowers and deposits, including in Forbright’s legacy Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. markets. Its deposit pricing in those markets is a useful comparison for the cost of Forbright’s local funding, distinct from its nationwide digital deposits.
Primis Financial Corp. earningsFRST
Primis Financial's report will show how its receivables- and inventory-backed business loans are holding up, a comparison for Forbright's asset-based lending.
Watch delinquencies and credit losses on Primis's receivables- and inventory-backed loans alongside lending growth. Growth with delinquencies and losses contained would suggest borrowers are repaying and the collateral is holding up. Rising delinquencies or losses would warn that business stress can weaken the protection of pledged assets, a risk relevant to Forbright's asset-based loans to non-bank lenders.
First Citizens BancShares Inc earningsFCNCA
First Citizens BancShares' report will show what its Direct Bank pays to attract savers nationwide, a comparison for Forbright's digital deposit costs.
Read the rates First Citizens' Direct Bank offers savers alongside its deposit levels. If deposits hold without higher rates, competition for nationwide digital deposits may be less intense, easing pressure on Forbright's funding costs. If First Citizens has to raise rates to retain deposits, Forbright may face greater pressure to pay more for its digital funding.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Forbright earns most of its income from the difference between interest on its loans and interest paid on deposits, so the Fed’s policy rate matters as those costs and loan yields adjust at different speeds.

If it comes in above expectations
If rates rise, variable-rate loans may earn more, but Forbright may also have to raise rates on its highly rate-sensitive digital deposits; the margin depends on which reprices faster.
If it comes in below expectations
If rates fall, variable-rate loan yields may decline, while lower deposit costs could partly offset that effect; the margin depends on which reprices faster.
Forbright, Inc. earningsThis company
Forbright's report will show whether income from its loans can keep covering the cost of deposits and credit losses.
Read net interest margin alongside the provision for credit losses. A steady or improving margin with no marked rise in the provision would show that loan income is still covering deposit costs without credit losses eating into profit. A falling margin or rising provision would point to more expensive funding or greater loan risk, so deposit and loan growth may not translate into more profit.
Blue Owl Capital Inc. earningsOWL
Blue Owl Capital's report will show whether private-credit funding can keep financing middle-market borrowers that also seek loans from Forbright.
Watch Blue Owl's credit fundraising and its capacity to keep financing existing borrowers. Ample capital and continued lending would mean private-credit firms remain active competitors for businesses Forbright could lend to. Weaker fundraising or lending could ease that competition, but may also signal deteriorating borrower conditions; the distinction matters because less competition does not necessarily mean lower credit risk.
