FinWise Bancorp operates through FinWise Bank, whose Strategic Programs with third-party lending platforms supply most of its revenue. The platforms bring consumer and small-business loan applications to the bank, which sets lending guidelines and approves the loans. FinWise earns interest from borrowers while holding the loans, then sells most originations to investors while retaining selected loans. It also earns servicing and other contractual fees, with platform partners handling much of the day-to-day servicing under bank oversight.
The bank also lends through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s SBA 7(a) program and finances real estate and equipment. Business Funding Group (BFG) is its primary SBA referral source, making that lending business heavily dependent on the relationship. FinWise earns interest on retained SBA loans and premiums from selling their government-guaranteed portions, while keeping servicing rights and the unguaranteed portions. It now must submit every SBA loan application to the agency for final approval rather than approve loans under delegated authority.
Deposits fund the lending, and FinWise relies principally on wholesale sources, including brokered and institutional deposits. Its earnings depend significantly on the difference between interest collected on loans and other assets and interest paid for funding. The platform business also depends on partners continuing to bring loans and investors buying them; regulators can require FinWise to end platform relationships or restrict new ones.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
FinWise’s results hinge chiefly on fintech partners’ loan volumes, continued regulatory permission for those relationships and funding costs, with SBA lending another important source of earnings exposure.
OppFi Inc. brings borrowers to FinWise, assesses their credit and handles loan servicing, then buys rights to a share of the loans’ returns; FinWise supplied 31.3% of OppFi’s net originations in 2025. Watch OppFi’s consumer-loan volumes and any regulatory disruption to the partnership, since FinWise earns servicing fees tied to outstanding loan balances.
United Community Banks, Inc. competes with FinWise to lend to small businesses through SBA lending and equipment financing across the country, earning interest from borrowers. Its demand and pricing in those businesses are worth watching for FinWise, whose SBA loans made up 35.1% of loans held for investment at December 31, 2025.
Zions Bancorporation N.A. competes with FinWise for borrowers and depositors in the Salt Lake City market, where both banks fund lending with deposits and earn interest from borrowers. Watch its local loan and deposit pricing for pressure on FinWise’s banking business; this rivalry is separate from Zions’ credit line to FinWise, which was unused at December 31, 2025.
United Community Banks, Inc. earningsUCB
United Community Banks' report will show how demand for small-business SBA loans and equipment financing is changing in the businesses where it competes with FinWise Bancorp for borrowers.
Watch United Community Banks' small-business SBA and equipment-finance activity and pricing. Firm activity would show that these borrowers still have demand and that FinWise faces continued competition; weaker activity could signal cooling demand, but this bank's results alone cannot establish FinWise's performance.
FinWise Bancorp earningsThis company
FinWise Bancorp relies heavily on lending through third-party platforms, and this report will show whether the related interest and fee income can withstand the cost of credit losses.
Read BaaS net interest income and non-interest income alongside the provision for credit losses. Growth in both income lines with a contained provision would show platform lending is translating into profit; weaker income or a higher provision that absorbs it would show that growth is not reliably paying off.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
FinWise earns interest on loans, including construction loans that reprice with prime, while paying for deposits and other funding, so a Fed rate decision can change both loan income and funding costs.

If it comes in above expectations
If rates rise more than expected, FinWise may earn more on construction loans as they reprice, but if deposit and borrowing costs rise faster, the bank’s net interest income—the interest earned minus interest paid—may be squeezed.
If it comes in below expectations
If rates fall more than expected, FinWise may earn less as construction loans reprice, while lower deposit and borrowing costs may partly offset that loss; the net effect depends on how quickly each responds.
OppFi Inc. earningsOPFI
OppFi's report will show whether its consumer-lending channel with FinWise Bancorp is active, affecting FinWise's loan balances and servicing-fee income.
Read OppFi's consumer-loan originations alongside whether the partnership remains intact. Steady originations with no disruption would support continued balances and servicing fees for FinWise; falling originations or a disrupted relationship would put that business and fee income under pressure.
