Company overview

Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd. builds, owns and operates solar, wind and battery-storage projects in markets including Israel, Europe and the United States. Electricity sales provide nearly all its revenue. Utilities and other power buyers pay it mainly under long-term power purchase agreements; in selected markets, it also sells at market prices and uses short-term hedges to limit price exposure.

In Israel, Enlight Enterprise supplies electricity directly to customers such as IKEA. It combines power from Enlight’s renewable projects with electricity bought from the national grid. These contracts require supply to match each customer’s demand, so Enlight must buy grid electricity or discharge batteries when its projects are not generating enough.

Operating income depends on sunlight, wind and the grid’s ability to accept and deliver electricity. Expansion requires substantial upfront funding, permits and grid connections before projects can start earning. Enlight relies heavily on outside project financing, including investors who fund U.S. projects in exchange for tax benefits. Energy licenses also constrain operations: in Israel, it generally cannot withdraw from power purchase agreements or cancel licenses without Electricity Authority approval.

Enlight's growth hinges on financing and connecting renewable generation and storage projects; Doral and Energix are important Israeli rivals to watch beyond this list.

  • Ellomay Capital LTD competes with Enlight for solar projects, electricity buyers' long-term contracts and grid connections in Europe, Israel and the United States. Watch its European solar contract wins and connection progress for signs of how hard it is for Enlight to secure buyers and get projects operating.

  • KENON HOLDINGS LTD.'s OPC competes with Enlight to generate renewable electricity and sell it to private customers in Israel. Watch OPC's Israeli private-customer electricity sales alongside Enlight Enterprise's sales to large industrial consumers.

  • Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. competes with Enlight for renewable-power assets and electricity customers in North America and Europe, with both developing and owning generation projects. Its acquisitions and development progress are worth watching for competition over the projects Enlight seeks to own.

  • Clearway Energy, Inc. offers a comparison for Enlight's contracted electricity revenue: both own wind, solar and battery assets whose power sales are largely secured by long-term customer contracts. Watch Clearway's Renewables & Storage revenue, where sales mainly use fixed-price contracts or regulated rates, rather than treating it as a guide to Enlight's market-priced electricity sales.

  • NextEra Energy, Inc.'s Energy Resources business competes with Enlight's Clenera for U.S. customers' renewable-power contracts and opportunities to develop solar and storage projects.

  • Brookfield Renewable Corporation overlaps with Enlight in owning and developing wind and solar assets in North America and Europe and selling their electricity to contracted buyers. Watch its wind and solar contract revenue for a comparison with Enlight's contracted generation business.

  • XPLR Infrastructure, LP shares Enlight's reliance on long-term electricity buyers: both own wind, solar and battery assets and sell most power under long-term contracts. Watch XPLR's wind-contract renewals, since its reported wind contract expirations begin in 2026, for a view of the prices and terms facing contracted generators.

  • ReNew Energy Global plc follows a growth model similar to Enlight's in a different market, developing wind, solar and firm-power projects in India and selling electricity under long-term contracts to government agencies, utilities and business customers. Watch its delivery of firm-power projects, including batteries, as a comparison for Enlight's generation-and-storage expansion.

  • Ormat Technologies, Inc. shares Enlight's exposure to demand for standalone batteries that store electricity and supply it back to the grid, although Ormat's core generation business is geothermal. Watch Ormat's Energy Storage revenue from providing capacity, energy and grid-support services, rather than its geothermal electricity sales.

  • Enlight relies on Tesla, Inc. for batteries used in its U.S. solar-plus-storage expansion; Tesla is its largest supplier to date for U.S. storage projects. Watch Tesla's energy-storage supply news rather than its car sales for developments relevant to Enlight's project equipment.
