Dole supplies grocery stores, wholesalers and foodservice operators with fresh fruit and vegetables, including products sold under the DOLE brand. Its diversified produce businesses account for most revenue, with Europe its largest segment; bananas, pineapples and other tropical fruit provide the other major source. Although Dole has sold its former Fresh Vegetables division, its diversified businesses still sell vegetables.
Dole combines produce from its own and leased farms with purchases from independent growers. It grows and sources bananas and pineapples mainly in Latin America, while its broader produce businesses combine local seasonal crops with imports from other growing regions. Packing houses, refrigerated ships, cold storage and distribution centers help move the harvest to customers before it spoils. In some European markets, Dole also works with grocery retailers to manage their produce offerings or entire in-store produce categories.
The business depends on securing crops and transport, then selling perishable produce at prices that cover sourcing and delivery costs. Short shelf life can force sales even when prices are unfavorable. No single customer dominates total sales, but some regions rely on a small group of large customers. Food-safety, import and labeling requirements govern what Dole can distribute; missing approvals or failing to comply can stop production or distribution.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Dole’s results hinge on fresh-produce prices, harvest conditions and shipping costs; watch Chiquita and Fyffes for important banana competition missing from this list.
Fresh Del Monte competes with Dole for retailers, wholesalers and foodservice buyers worldwide, selling bananas, pineapples and other fresh produce. Its banana pricing and pineapple promotions—particularly in the U.S., where it is a primary pineapple competitor—are worth watching for pressure on Dole’s sales and profitability.
Limoneira Co’s sales of fresh lemons, avocados and other citrus overlap with Dole’s diversified fresh-produce business, making it a competitor in those products rather than bananas. Watch its avocado and citrus sales for a narrower view of markets Dole serves; Limoneira’s rental and property-development businesses do not reflect that produce competition.
Del Monte Corporation earningsDMC
Fresh Del Monte’s report will show how sales and promotions are shaping competition in bananas and pineapples, products that overlap with Dole’s.
Watch Fresh Del Monte’s banana and pineapple sales alongside any comments on pricing and promotions. Steady sales without heavier promotions would suggest demand and pricing in these overlapping categories are holding up, easing pressure on Dole to compete for buyers. Weaker sales or greater reliance on promotions would point to more pressure on Dole’s sales or margins.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Fed’s rate decision signals the direction of borrowing costs, which can change what Dole pays on its $874.3 million of gross debt and leave more or less cash for produce operations and investment.

If it comes in above expectations
If the Fed’s rate is above expectations, higher rates could raise interest expense on debt that reprices and on new borrowing, leaving less cash for Dole’s farming, logistics and other investment.
If it comes in below expectations
If the Fed’s rate is below expectations, lower rates could ease interest costs on debt that reprices and new borrowing, leaving Dole more cash for farming, logistics and other investment.
Dole plc earningsThis company
Dole’s report will show whether sales of bananas, pineapples and plantains can outpace sourcing and shipping costs and leave more earnings in its Fresh Fruit business.
Read Fresh Fruit revenue alongside segment Adjusted EBITDA, Dole’s adjusted measure of segment earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization; it is not a U.S. GAAP profit measure. If both rise, sales growth is reaching the segment’s earnings. If revenue rises but Adjusted EBITDA falls, sourcing, shipping or other costs are absorbing the gains and squeezing Fresh Fruit’s earnings.
Limoneira Co earningsLMNR
Limoneira Co’s report offers a read on lemon and avocado markets that overlap with Dole’s diversified fresh-produce business.
Focus on Limoneira Co’s lemon and avocado business, separating produce from rentals and property development if the report breaks them out. Stronger produce sales would suggest support in categories that overlap with Dole’s; weaker sales could signal demand or pricing pressure in those markets, but would not establish that Dole’s broader range is weakening.
