Liberty Defense Holdings sells HEXWAVE to airports, stadiums and government facilities that need to screen people for concealed weapons and prohibited items. The walk-through system uses millimeter-wave sensing, 3D imaging and AI to detect metallic and non-metallic threats without requiring people to empty their pockets. Customers pay an upfront equipment fee and can add software subscriptions and maintenance; substantially all buyers have purchased both. Sales remain at an early commercial stage and are concentrated among a few North American customers.
Government-funded development is the other major source of revenue, contributing roughly as much as HEXWAVE sales in the latest reported interim period. The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) pays Liberty for development work, including the HD-AIT Upgrade Kit for existing airport body scanners, with payments typically tied to milestones or deliverables. Contract revenue has come from a single U.S. customer. The kit remains in development and cannot enter TSA-regulated airport use without TSA evaluation and certification; commercial sales have not begun.
Liberty has not reached full-scale HEXWAVE production. Its business depends on government procurement, increasing production and reducing unit costs. Analog Devices is the sole supplier of certain essential HEXWAVE components, without a long-term supply agreement. Continued access to outside financing is also critical until commercial sales can sustain operations.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Liberty Defense’s results hinge on HEXWAVE deployment and TSA funding and certification, with Xtract One, Thruvision and Rohde & Schwarz adding screening competition.
Evolv Technologies Holdings, Inc. competes with Liberty Defense for venue and facility operators buying AI-powered walk-through threat-screening systems. Watch Evolv Express wins among sports venues, universities and government facilities, where customers overlap with Liberty’s still-early HEXWAVE rollout.
Leidos Holdings, Inc. competes with Liberty Defense through its ProVision screening systems and Wideband body-scanner upgrades, while earning most of its revenue from U.S. government contracts. Watch Wideband upgrade awards rather than Leidos’s overall revenue: they concern the market Liberty’s HD-AIT Upgrade Kit seeks to enter, with commercial sales still subject to TSA certification.
Liberty Defense relies on Analog Devices, Inc. as its only supplier of essential HEXWAVE components, which account for about 22% of each unit’s cost of goods sold and are bought without a long-term supply agreement. Watch delivery delays or shortages in those components: replacing them could require redesign and recertification, delaying HEXWAVE production or raising its cost.
Leidos Holdings, Inc. earningsLDOS
Leidos's report will show whether awards for body-scanner upgrades continue in the market Liberty Defense's HD-AIT Upgrade Kit seeks to enter, subject to TSA certification.
Focus on awards for Leidos's Wideband upgrades, not its overall revenue. More awards would show that buyers still fund body-scanner upgrades, but would not mean Liberty has TSA certification or will win orders. Fewer awards would point to a weaker market opportunity for the HD-AIT Upgrade Kit.
Evolv Technologies Holdings, Inc. earningsEVLV
Evolv's report will show whether sports venues, universities and government facilities are buying the kind of walk-through screening system that competes with Liberty Defense's HEXWAVE.
Look for Evolv Express wins among sports venues, universities and government facilities. More wins would show that customers overlapping with Liberty are still buying walk-through screening, supporting demand for HEXWAVE's market; fewer wins would point to softer buying and a harder path for Liberty's early rollout.
Analog Devices, Inc. earningsADI
Analog Devices' report can offer clues about its supply business; it supplies Liberty Defense with essential HEXWAVE components that make up about 22% of each unit's cost of goods sold.
Watch ADI's disclosures about the relevant component business and deliveries, alongside Liberty's comments on HEXWAVE production. Supply or delivery pressure at ADI could put Liberty's production at risk; a steady supply picture would ease concern but would not confirm that Liberty's orders arrived on time. Replacing the components could also require redesign and recertification.
