Company

Company overview

Castor Maritime supplies vessels to charterers that need to move bulk commodities, such as iron ore, coal and soybeans, or containerized goods. Charterers hire the ships for an agreed period and pay a daily rate. Vessel hire supplies most revenue, with dry bulk contributing more than containerships. Most dry bulk hire rates track shipping-market indexes, while its containership, M/V Raphaela, operates under a fixed-rate charter.

Through its majority-owned subsidiary MPC Capital, Castor also helps institutional investors structure and fund maritime and energy-infrastructure investments, then manages ships and projects for investment companies and outside clients. These clients pay management fees and fees for arranging asset purchases or sales. This service business contributes a substantial share of revenue. MPC Capital also takes minority stakes alongside investors; dividends from a small group of investments, principally MPC Container Ships ASA, are important to Castor’s liquidity.

Shipping income depends on charter rates, which reflect vessel supply and demand for sea transport, and on keeping vessels employed. A small group of charterers supplies much of its revenue, and Castor Ships manages the entire fleet. The asset-management business depends on retaining managed assets and raising capital for projects. Vessel emissions rules also constrain operations: compliance has required power limits on some ships, which can reduce speed and commercial use.

Beyond dry-bulk charter rates, Castor Maritime Inc. depends on MPC Capital’s management and investment business and dividends from Oslo-listed MPC Container Ships, a major investee and management customer missing from this list.

  • Globus Maritime Limited competes with Castor Maritime Inc. for customers paying to ship iron ore, coal and grain, so dry-bulk charter rates matter to both. Watch the hire rates on Globus’s Kamsarmax and Ultramax vessels: Castor’s dry-bulk hire is largely tied to market indices.

  • Navios Maritime Partners L.P. and Castor Maritime Inc. compete to rent dry-bulk vessels and containerships to overlapping shipping customers. Navios’s dry-bulk results offer the closer market-rate signal: as of March 5, 2026, 51% of its available dry-bulk days for 2026 remained exposed to market rates, while all available containership days were covered by long-term charters.

  • Pyxis Tankers Inc.’s Kamsarmax and Ultramax bulkers compete with Castor Maritime Inc. for customers paying to transport dry commodities, although Pyxis also rents out product tankers. Watch its dry-bulk charter hire rather than tanker revenue for a read on the market rates that drive much of Castor’s fleet income.

  • Heidmar Maritime Holdings Corp. competes with Castor Maritime Inc.’s MPC Capital for vessel owners who pay managers to find work for their tankers. Heidmar groups tankers into pools and charges daily fees plus freight commissions; its managed fleet and commission revenue are worth watching alongside MPC Capital’s tanker-management business.

  • Euroseas Ltd.(Marshall Islands) and Castor Maritime Inc. both earn hire from shipping customers using their containerships, exposing them to the same charter market. Euroseas’s daily earnings after voyage expenses offer a market comparison, but Castor’s Raphaela has fixed hire until its estimated charter expiry between November 2026 and January 2027.

  • Costamare Inc. competes with Castor Maritime Inc. to supply containerships to liner operators that pay daily hire for an agreed period. Watch Costamare’s new charter terms for what those customers will pay, rather than expecting market-rate changes to immediately reach Castor’s fixed-rate Raphaela charter.

  • Euroholdings Ltd. and Castor Maritime Inc. compete to rent containerships to customers paying daily hire, although Euroholdings also operates a product tanker. Watch replacement charters for Euroholdings’s two containerships, whose earliest redelivery dates fall in September and November 2026, ahead of Raphaela’s estimated November 2026–January 2027 expiry.
