Coincheck Group N.V.’s main business is Coincheck Marketplace, where Japanese individual investors buy, sell and hold crypto assets. Coincheck itself buys from or sells to customers, rather than simply matching their orders. It earns the difference between customer prices and the prices used to offset those trades. Marketplace transactions account for the vast majority of revenue.
The group also owns 3iQ, which manages crypto-asset funds and accounts and earns fees tied to assets under management, plus performance fees on some products. Aplo provides trading services to institutions. The group plans to broaden its institutional services, initially focusing on Japan, but retail trading remains its main business.
Revenue depends heavily on Japanese retail trading activity and crypto-asset prices, particularly demand for Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP. Coincheck’s exchange services are restricted to customers in Japan, and it supports only assets approved under Japanese JVCEA guidelines. If Japanese authorities classify a supported asset as a security, Coincheck may have to suspend its trading until it meets the applicable requirements.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Coincheck’s results still depend chiefly on Japanese retail crypto trading and competition from local providers bitFlyer, GMO Coin and SBI, none of which appears on this list.
Coinbase Global and Coincheck both earn fees or price spreads when customers trade crypto, tying both to trading activity; they also compete to execute trades and provide related services for institutions through prime brokerage. Watch Coinbase’s consumer trading revenue for the broader trading backdrop, and Coinbase Prime for competition facing Coincheck’s Aplo business.
Galaxy Digital competes with Coincheck to serve institutional crypto traders through prime brokerage, and also runs digital-asset trading and asset-management businesses. Its Global Markets transaction fees, typically linked to trading volume, are worth watching for the institutional trading demand Coincheck seeks through Aplo.
BitGo Holdings, Inc. competes with Coincheck in executing institutional crypto trades and safeguarding assets, while also earning revenue from trading and staking. Its recurring custody fees and revenue from staking rewards offer a view of the services Coincheck wants to expand beyond retail trading.
Bullish’s platform for institutional crypto trading overlaps with Coincheck’s Aplo trade-execution business and its planned institutional expansion. Watch the fees and liquidity Bullish offers institutions trading spot crypto and derivatives: those are competitive terms facing Coincheck as it pursues these customers.
Bakkt, Inc. earns fees on crypto purchases and sales, while its infrastructure for business clients overlaps with Coincheck’s planned trade-execution and custody services for third parties. Watch Bakkt’s relationships with financial institutions and fintechs: it depends on a small number of clients in the customer groups Coincheck hopes to serve.
Defi Technologies, Inc. overlaps with two parts of Coincheck’s expansion: Valour offers exchange-listed crypto investment products like 3iQ, while Stillman arranges off-exchange trades like Aplo’s institutional trading services. Valour’s zero-management-fee Bitcoin and Ethereum products, particularly in the Nordic countries, are a concrete pricing reference for Coincheck’s crypto investment-product business.
Exodus Movement, Inc. and Coincheck both benefit from retail crypto activity, but Exodus charges service providers integrated into its wallet, where users retain control of their assets, while Coincheck earns spreads by buying from and selling to Japanese retail customers. Exodus’s provider fees for users outside the United States are tied to transaction value, making that revenue a useful reference for retail transaction activity rather than Japanese demand specifically.
Galaxy Digital Inc. earningsGLXY
Galaxy Digital's Global Markets transaction fees will show whether institutional crypto trading is generating demand for the prime-brokerage business Coincheck is building through Aplo.
Read Global Markets transaction-fee revenue alongside any trading-volume measure the company reports. Fees rising with volume would point to more institutional trading and a stronger market for the Aplo business Coincheck is building; weakness in both would suggest softer demand. Galaxy Digital's customers and markets are not the same as Coincheck's potential customers in Japan.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Coincheck’s Japanese retail Marketplace earns most of its revenue from crypto trades, so Fed rate decisions matter insofar as they affect crypto prices and volatility and, in turn, how much customers trade.

If it comes in above expectations
If the decision signals higher rates than markets expected, tighter financial conditions may affect crypto prices or volatility; if that reduces Japanese customers’ Marketplace trading, Coincheck processes fewer trades and earns less spread revenue.
If it comes in below expectations
If the decision signals lower rates than markets expected, easier financial conditions may affect crypto prices or volatility; if that increases Japanese customers’ Marketplace trading, Coincheck processes more trades and may earn more spread revenue.
Coinbase Global, Inc. earningsCOIN
Coinbase Global's consumer trading revenue will show activity on its crypto platform, offering a broad-market reference for demand on Coincheck's Japanese retail Marketplace.
Watch whether Coinbase Global's consumer trading revenue rises or falls. An increase would indicate stronger consumer activity on its platform, a supportive backdrop for Coincheck's retail trading business but not proof of higher activity in Japan. A decline would point to softer retail trading more broadly; Coincheck's own volume and revenue would still determine whether that reaches its customers.
BitGo Holdings, Inc. earningsBTGO
BitGo Holdings' custody fees and staking revenue will show whether institutions are paying for crypto services that Coincheck wants to grow beyond retail trading.
Read BitGo Holdings' recurring custody fees and staking revenue separately. Rising custody fees show customers continue to pay to safeguard crypto assets; rising staking revenue shows that staking services are also generating income. Strength in both supports the commercial value of these services. Weakness would mean Coincheck's expansion depends not just on industry interest but on winning customers and turning services into revenue.
Coincheck Group N.V. earningsThis company
Coincheck earns most of its revenue from spreads on Japanese retail customers' crypto trades, and this report will show whether Marketplace activity is still bringing in transaction revenue.
Read Marketplace trading volume, transaction revenue and average spread together. Rising volume and revenue with a steady spread would show the core business earning more from activity; rising volume but weaker revenue or spread would mean less revenue per unit traded. If both volume and revenue fall, Japanese retail trading activity is weakening.
Defi Technologies, Inc. earningsDEFT
Defi Technologies' Valour products with no management fee offer a pricing reference for the digital-asset investment products Coincheck's 3iQ manages.
See whether Valour's zero-management-fee Bitcoin and Ethereum products attract assets, using any disclosed product assets and revenue to judge the result. If they gather assets, investors may be willing to move money to lower-fee products, putting pressure on the management fees 3iQ can charge. If they attract few assets, a zero fee alone may not win customers. Valour's Nordic products are a pricing reference, not a measure of demand for 3iQ.
Bullish earningsBLSH
Bullish's institutional trading fees and liquidity will show the competitive terms facing the institutional execution business Coincheck is building through Aplo.
Watch the fees and liquidity Bullish offers institutions for spot and derivatives trading. Lower fees and deeper liquidity give customers more attractive trading choices, raising the bar for Coincheck as it seeks them through Aplo; higher fees or thinner liquidity would mean less pressure on its terms. The question for Coincheck is whether Aplo can offer the execution conditions these customers value.
