Company

Company overview

HeartBeam helps physicians assess abnormal heart rhythms outside the clinic. Its HeartBeam System uses a credit-card-sized, cable-free device to record the heart’s electrical activity, then converts those recordings into a 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG). A patient app, physician portal and cloud software connect the readings with care, including on-demand review by a board-certified cardiologist.

The company is beginning commercialization after reporting no revenue in 2025. It named preventive cardiology practice ClearCardio as its first commercial customer under a letter of intent that includes a per-patient subscription fee and a staged rollout; a definitive agreement remains to be negotiated. HeartBeam initially targets U.S. practices where device payment falls outside established insurance reimbursement, with broader insurance coverage a longer-term goal. Sales depend on physicians prescribing and using the system. FDA clearance covers arrhythmia assessment; heart-attack detection remains a planned future use requiring further regulatory clearance.

HeartBeam’s results hinge on commercial adoption of its newly cleared ECG system, including the planned ClearCardio rollout, against alternatives such as AliveCor’s KardiaMobile and SHL Telemedicine’s Smartheart.

  • iRhythm Holdings, Inc.’s Zio patches compete with HeartBeam’s portable ECG system as ways for physicians to detect arrhythmias outside the clinic. iRhythm earns revenue from physician-ordered monitoring services that continuously record ECGs for up to 14 days, making demand for those services a useful sign of the alternative HeartBeam must compete against.

  • Boston Scientific’s BodyGuardian competes with HeartBeam’s portable ECG system for physician-directed arrhythmia monitoring outside the clinic, but monitoring is only one part of its broad medical-device business. For HeartBeam investors, BodyGuardian news is more directly relevant than Boston Scientific’s overall results, which also reflect devices used across many other medical specialties.
