Company overview

authID Inc. helps enterprises check who is opening an account and whether someone logging in or authorizing a transaction is the account owner. Its Proof product verifies identity during onboarding, while Verified uses biometrics to authenticate account owners and help them recover access to their accounts.

Enterprises pay for the platform through subscriptions and charges based on transactions, enrolled users or active users. authID sells directly and also reaches customers through cybersecurity and financial technology partners that resell its services or incorporate them into their own offerings.

A substantial share of revenue comes from a small number of customer deals. Revenue therefore depends on closing those deals and getting customers up and running, which can take time. authID is seeking a broader customer base through lower-priced SaaS products. Its biometric services must also meet privacy requirements, including disclosure and consent rules that constrain how personal information can be handled.

  • T Stamp Inc., known as Trust Stamp, competes with authID for buyers of privacy-preserving biometric software for account creation, repeat identity checks, passwordless login and account recovery. Watch adoption through its enterprise and government partners of IT2, which converts identifying data into tokens that cannot be reversed into the original identity data.

  • Aware competes with authID for enterprises buying biometric software to enroll and authenticate customers and workers. Its customer and workforce enrollment and access-control business is the relevant comparison, rather than its law-enforcement and forensic applications.

  • BIO-key International, Inc. competes with authID for enterprises that want biometric access checks tied to the person, not a phone or token. Watch PortalGuard adoption among workers who move between locations or share workstations, where BIO-key's person-bound authentication is designed to work.

  • Intellicheck, Inc. both competes with authID in enterprise onboarding identity checks by verifying identity documents and brings authID's biometric services to customers as a reseller. Watch the Illinois biometric-privacy lawsuit naming both companies: the claims remain allegations, and authID said it believed the case lacked merit and had recorded no liability.

  • Okta competes with authID for enterprise spending on cloud services that authenticate workers and customers, but sells a broader identity platform through multi-year subscriptions. Watch existing customers adding users and products to Okta Platform and Auth0 Platform for a read on spending in the identity market authID serves.

  • Rank One Computing Corporation competes with authID in remote identity verification and commercial biometric software, including ROC Enroll. Watch its expansion from government buyers into commercial identity verification; MTN's use of ROC Enroll for SIM-card registration in South Africa is a concrete application.

  • Clear Secure, Inc. competes with authID through CLEAR1, which sells businesses identity verification using biometrics and document checks. Watch CLEAR1 rather than CLEAR+ consumer subscriptions for dedicated airport security lanes, which make CLEAR's overall results a less direct comparison with authID.
