Company

Company overview

Arrow Electronics buys products from suppliers and sells them to businesses that build electronics or deliver IT systems. Global Components generates most of its revenue, supplying mainly semiconductors and other components to equipment manufacturers and contract electronics manufacturers. Arrow also helps customers select and design in components, manage sourcing, and move products through production and delivery.

Its second business, Global ECS, sells enterprise hardware, software and computing solutions to resellers and managed service providers that serve end customers. Product sales drive revenue, supplemented by service fees. Under some supplier agreements, Arrow also earns contractual fees for managing selling and marketing activities and takes on non-cancellable, multi-year purchase commitments.

The business depends on technology demand, particularly the semiconductor cycle, and continued access to supplier products. Its customers are widely spread, but parts of Global ECS rely on a limited group of suppliers. Most distribution agreements can be cancelled on short notice, while most customer sales are placed order by order rather than secured by long-term contracts. International shipments of certain products are subject to export controls and may require licenses or license exceptions.

Arrow’s results hinge on component demand, customer inventory cycles and enterprise IT spending; Future Electronics is also an important component-distribution rival outside this list.

  • Avnet shares Arrow’s exposure to component demand and customer inventory cycles: both sell semiconductors and passive components to equipment makers and contract electronics manufacturers, competing on availability, price and supply-chain support. Avnet’s Electronic Components sales offer a comparison for demand in Arrow’s component business.

  • TD SYNNEX Corporation competes with Arrow’s ECS business for reseller purchases of servers, storage, networking, security and software, tying both to enterprise IT spending. Its Advanced Solutions sales are the closer comparison for Arrow than its personal-device business.

  • Ingram Micro and Arrow’s ECS business compete to sell technology products and cloud solutions to resellers and managed service providers. Demand for the third-party cloud services and subscriptions Ingram sells is a useful comparison for Arrow’s cloud offerings.

  • Microchip relies on Arrow to distribute its embedded-control chips: Arrow was its largest distributor and accounted for 12% of net sales in fiscal 2026. Demand for Microchip’s chips used in automotive and industrial equipment offers a read on the component orders and inventory cycles Arrow faces.

  • Vishay supplies discrete semiconductors and passive components that Arrow sells onward, so component orders and inventory corrections affect both businesses.

  • ON Semiconductor supplies chips that Arrow distributes, exposing both to automotive and industrial electronics orders and inventory adjustments.

  • Littelfuse depends on Arrow to distribute protection and power components; sales to Arrow accounted for 9.5% of Littelfuse’s consolidated net sales in fiscal 2025. Its circuit-protection and power-control business offers a comparison for the industrial and automotive demand behind Arrow’s component sales.

  • TE Connectivity supplies connectors and related components that Arrow distributes, linking both businesses to industrial and transportation electronics production.

  • Climb Global Solutions, Inc. competes with Arrow for vendors’ permission to distribute products and for reseller purchases of software, networking, storage and security products. Watch its distribution business for changes in vendor relationships and reseller demand in those overlapping categories.

  • Scansource Inc competes with parts of Arrow’s ECS business by selling networking, communications, security and subscription products through technology channels. Its Specialty Technology Solutions sales, primarily in the United States and Brazil, offer a comparison for reseller demand in those overlapping products.
