Amarin’s business centers on one medicine, icosapent ethyl, branded VASCEPA in the United States and VAZKEPA in Europe. Its approved uses include lowering severely elevated triglycerides in U.S. adults and reducing cardiovascular risk in specified high-risk patients taking statins. Most revenue comes from U.S. VASCEPA sales. Amarin sells mainly to a small group of large drug wholesalers, which supply pharmacies that dispense it to patients, leaving sales concentrated among a few buyers.
Outside the United States, commercial partners buy the medicine from Amarin and resell it locally. Recordati holds exclusive development and commercialization rights across a mainly European territory, where it controls marketing and reimbursement negotiations. Amarin supplies the product and can also earn royalties and payments tied to sales milestones under that agreement. Its income there depends on Recordati’s success in selling VAZKEPA.
Patient access depends heavily on government and private insurers covering treatment; European launches generally require country-specific reimbursement. U.S. sales also face generic icosapent ethyl competition following the invalidation of certain patents. Amarin outsources all manufacturing and must use suppliers approved for each destination market, so maintaining qualified supply is essential to serving both its own customers and its partners.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Amarin’s results hinge on U.S. generic competition, including Hikma, and international growth through Recordati’s commercialization of VAZKEPA across 59 primarily European countries.
Dr. Reddy’s puts pressure on Amarin’s U.S. VASCEPA business: it helped invalidate patents covering the MARINE indication and sells generic icosapent ethyl to compete for prescriptions. Watch its generic product’s pricing and prescription gains for pressure on VASCEPA’s selling price and market share.
Teva sells generic icosapent ethyl that competes with Amarin’s VASCEPA for U.S. prescriptions, putting pressure on Amarin’s sales even when the overall prescription market grows. Teva’s pricing for this product is worth watching: Amarin attributed its lower U.S. net selling prices in 2025 to generic competition.
Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Inc. adds another active generic icosapent ethyl competitor to Amarin’s branded VASCEPA in the U.S. prescription market. Watch uptake of that generic rather than Amneal’s broader medicine sales: it bears directly on VASCEPA’s ability to retain prescriptions.

Dr. Reddy’s report will show whether its generic icosapent ethyl is winning U.S. prescriptions from VASCEPA or forcing Amarin to compete on price.
Look for what Dr. Reddy’s reports about generic icosapent ethyl sales or prescriptions, alongside Amarin’s U.S. net selling price and market share. More generic prescriptions with little price pressure would mean Amarin may lose share while prices hold; gains paired with lower prices would mean pressure on both share and revenue per sale.

Amarin’s report will show whether U.S. VASCEPA sales are holding up against generic competition and whether partner revenue can offset any decline.
Read U.S. net product revenue alongside overseas product revenue and licensing and royalty revenue. Stable U.S. sales with growth overseas would show both direct sales and partners supporting the business; falling U.S. sales without an overseas offset would show generic pressure still weighing on Amarin’s main revenue source.
