Alamar Biosciences helps researchers measure proteins present at very low concentrations in blood and other biological fluids. Its NULISA technology underpins the ARGO HT automated instrument, assay kits and analysis software. Research and academic institutions provide most of its revenue; biopharmaceutical companies and research service laboratories also buy its products.
Most revenue comes from consumables and instrument sales, with consumables the largest source. ARGO instruments work exclusively with Alamar’s associated consumables, so customers running more tests buy more reagent kits and other supplies. Customers can also pay to send samples to Alamar’s laboratory through its Technology Access Program (TAP), receiving analysis reports without first buying an instrument.
Demand depends heavily on research budgets, particularly government grants supporting academic customers. Supply also depends on Abcam, from which Alamar licenses most of the antibodies and antigens used in its consumable kits. Its current products are labeled for research use only, not clinical diagnosis. Alamar is developing diagnostic products, but covered products need FDA marketing authorization before they can be sold for clinical diagnostic use in the United States.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Beyond this list, Alamar depends on privately held GENER8 to manufacture its ARGO HT instruments, while academic research funding drives much of customer demand.
Quanterix Corporation competes with Alamar for research and biopharma customers measuring very low levels of protein biomarkers: its Simoa instruments, consumables and research services offer an alternative to NULISA. Watch its instrument and assay-consumable sales to these customers for evidence of demand for sensitive protein measurement.
Thermo Fisher Scientific competes directly with Alamar through Olink assays sold for protein-biomarker research that connects discovery with clinical applications. For Alamar, watch Olink's uptake among academic and biopharma researchers rather than Thermo Fisher's much broader laboratory-products and services business.
Seer, Inc. offers academic and biopharma researchers an alternative to Alamar through its Proteograph instruments, consumables and software for analyzing proteins in biological samples. Its workflow reads proteins using mass spectrometry, so adoption of Proteograph shows researchers choosing a different approach from Alamar's NULISA assays.
Illumina competes with Alamar for protein-analysis research spending through its acquired SomaScan business, whose assays use reagents that bind proteins to measure them. Watch SomaScan rather than Illumina's core DNA-sequencing business, which accounted for 92% of fiscal 2025 revenue.
Bio-Techne competes with Alamar for researchers' protein-biomarker measurement spending, selling protein-analysis instruments and antibody-based tests as alternatives to Alamar's assays.
Alamar depends on Danaher Corporation's Abcam business to supply and license most of the antibodies and antigens used in its proprietary assay consumables.
Bruker Corporation competes with Alamar for life-sciences laboratories' protein-analysis budgets, selling mass spectrometry systems as an alternative to Alamar's assays that use protein-binding reagents.
Nautilus Biotechnolgy, Inc. competes with Alamar for researchers adopting protein analysis based on reagents that bind proteins, initially through early-access services and later through its planned Voyager instruments, consumables and software. Watch uptake of the services launched in January 2026: broader platform commercialization is still ahead.
10x Genomics, Inc. and Alamar both depend on academic and biopharma laboratories buying proprietary research instruments and recurring consumables, making research funding relevant to both. Watch 10x's single-cell and tissue-analysis consumable sales for a read on these laboratories' spending on advanced biological analysis.
Danaher Corporation earningsDHR
Danaher's Abcam business supplies and licenses most of the antibodies and antigens Alamar uses, so Danaher's report can offer a read on this important supply source.
If the report discusses Abcam separately, compare its reagent-business performance with Danaher's other businesses. A resilient Abcam business would support confidence in this supplier, but would not prove Alamar's delivery volumes or purchasing terms. If Abcam weakens while Danaher's other businesses hold up, the strain looks more specific to the reagent source Alamar depends on; that supply reliance remains the key concern.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Fed interest-rate decisions matter to Alamar because its floating-rate term debt can reprice, changing the interest it pays and the cash left for its instruments, consumables and research.

A rate increase can raise interest costs on Alamar’s floating-rate term debt and leave less cash for the business; a rate cut can lower those costs and leave more cash available.
Alamar Biosciences, Inc. earningsThis company
Alamar sells ARGO instruments and recurring NULISA assay kits, and this report will show whether new placements are turning into repeat consumables sales.
Read instrument revenue, consumables revenue and product gross margin together. Consumables growing alongside placements, with product margins improving, would show customers are using the instruments and returning for kits, strengthening the recurring-sales economics. If instrument revenue grows but consumables lag, or product margins fail to improve, placements are not yet generating comparable repeat use and profit. The question is whether placements become repeat purchases.
10x Genomics, Inc. earningsTXG
10x Genomics sells single-cell and tissue-analysis consumables to academic and biopharma labs, offering a spending read on customer groups Alamar also serves.
Watch 10x Genomics' single-cell and tissue-analysis consumables sales. Strength would show that at least some academic and biopharma labs are still funding advanced biological analysis—a positive spending clue for Alamar's customer base, but not proof they will buy protein assays. Weakness would point to tighter lab spending, putting more pressure on Alamar's sales to research institutions.
Quanterix Corporation earningsQTRX
Quanterix sells protein-biomarker instruments and consumables to research and biopharma customers, and its report will show whether they are buying an alternative sensitive-measurement platform.
Read Quanterix's instrument sales alongside its assay-consumables sales. Growth in both would show customers buying the platform and continuing to use its tests: budgets for sensitive protein measurement are active, though some spending may be going to an alternative to Alamar. If instruments grow but consumables lag, placements are not yet translating into repeat use, and instrument demand alone is not evidence that customers will keep spending.
