Company

Company overview

Allot helps mobile and fixed broadband providers see what traffic runs through their networks and manage it. Its AllotSmart platforms identify applications and control traffic so customers can manage network performance. Network intelligence supplies most revenue; enterprises and government agencies also buy its solutions. Customers pay for products, maintenance and support, and services such as installation. Support, maintenance and recurring security services together provide most revenue.

Allot Secure 360 lets operators offer network-based security to their subscribers. The operator is Allot’s customer and pays it a share of subscriber revenue or an agreed recurring fee. Expanding this business depends on operators choosing to sell security and persuading consumers and small businesses to subscribe.

Allot sells directly and through channel partners, which supply a substantial share of sales and often handle installation and initial support. Large operator projects require extensive testing and network integration; major customer relationships rely on purchase orders rather than commitments to future purchases. Net-neutrality rules restrict some traffic-management uses, particularly in the EU. Israeli research grants also restrict moving related manufacturing and transferring funded know-how outside Israel without approval.

Allot’s results hinge on telecom operators’ network spending and subscribers’ uptake of security services, while its hardware delivery also depends on Lenovo, which is missing from this list.

  • A10 NETWORKS INC competes with Allot for service providers’ and enterprises’ network budgets: both sell tools to manage traffic and secure networks. Watch A10’s sales of traffic-management and network-security products for signs of spending in the customer groups Allot also serves.

  • Cisco competes with Allot for operators’ and enterprises’ spending, selling service-provider networking and network-security products against Allot’s traffic-management and security offerings.

  • F5 competes with Allot in selling traffic-control and security solutions to service providers and enterprises, but focuses more on delivering and protecting applications than Allot’s network traffic management and security.

  • Allot depends on Hewlett Packard Enterprise servers to run its software, so server availability and pricing affect Allot’s product costs and delivery schedules. Watch HPE server supply and prices, especially as AI-industry demand has already caused hardware shortages, higher prices and longer lead times for Allot.

  • Allot relies on Arrow Electronics to integrate, assemble and test its networking platforms, so disruptions at Arrow can delay Allot’s shipments. Watch capacity and quality problems in Arrow’s manufacturing services: they can hold up delivery of Allot’s Service Gateway, Network Management and Enterprise platforms.
