Amazon runs retail and marketplace businesses and rents computing capacity to companies through AWS. It recently said AWS capacity was booked through 2027, but bookings are not revenue already earned, and data centers cost money before customers use them. The central question is whether that demand is turning into revenue and cash that can support the expansion, rather than simply requiring ever more investment.[1]
Compare AWS revenue growth and operating profit with capital spending and operating cash flow. Growth that keeps pace with expansion would strengthen the earnings case for cloud businesses and their chip, networking and data-center suppliers. Faster spending and heavier cash consumption would leave investment returns in doubt even with strong bookings. Capacity constraints could also send customers to cloud rivals with room available. In retail, watch sales alongside delivery costs and margins to see whether customer spending is producing profit.[1]
