Company

Company overview

ZKH Group helps businesses buy the parts, chemicals and consumables they need to maintain equipment and run daily operations—known as MRO supplies. Its business is mainly in China. The ZKH platform serves companies of varying sizes and accounts for most revenue; GBB serves retailers and microbusinesses, many of which resell the products they buy. The company supports online ordering with fulfillment services.

Most revenue comes from purchasing products from suppliers and selling them to customers. ZKH also lets third-party suppliers sell through its platform and collects commissions on their sales. This marketplace business is a smaller source of revenue than direct product sales.

The business depends on suppliers providing suitable, authentic products at acceptable prices and on reliable warehousing and delivery. Its earnings also depend on whether selling prices cover purchasing and fulfillment costs. Hazardous-chemical sales require licenses; its hazardous-chemical operating license excludes storage facilities, and it uses third-party providers to store and transport hazardous products.

ZKH’s results hinge on Chinese industrial customers’ maintenance-supply spending and purchasing decisions, making Fastenal a useful business comparison rather than a close gauge of demand in ZKH’s market.

  • Fastenal offers a comparison for ZKH’s business: both sell industrial maintenance supplies to business customers and help them buy and replenish stock, including through vending machines. Fastenal’s updates on services that lower customers’ purchasing costs offer a useful lens on ZKH’s one-stop purchasing and replenishment offering.
