Company

Company overview

Employers use ZipRecruiter, Inc. to publish job openings, reach candidates on its marketplace and partner job sites, and review applications. Job seekers use the service free of charge, while its artificial intelligence uses their preferences and attributes to recommend opportunities and improve matches.

Most revenue comes from employers subscribing to job-posting plans and related services, including greater posting visibility and access to a searchable resume database. A smaller revenue stream comes from recruiting campaigns in which employers pay when candidates click on distributed job advertisements, rather than paying for a subscription.

Nearly all revenue comes from U.S. operations, so the business depends on employers’ hiring needs and willingness to keep paying. Employers have no obligation to renew their plans. ZipRecruiter also relies on Google and other channels to bring visitors to its website. Privacy, communications and employment-related AI rules constrain how it can use personal information, contact users and operate its services.

ZipRecruiter's results hinge on employer hiring budgets and competition from Indeed, a key recruiting rival missing from this list.

  • DHI Group's Dice and ClearanceJobs compete with ZipRecruiter for employers' spending on job ads, resume searches and candidate matching. Watch their recruitment-package revenue: Dice serves U.S. technology and engineering hiring, while ClearanceJobs serves hiring for professionals with security clearances.

  • Professional Diversity Network's TalentAlly competes with ZipRecruiter for employers paying to advertise jobs and reach candidates, but focuses on diverse professionals. Its TalentAlly recruitment-service revenue offers a view of spending by employers and third-party recruiters seeking that candidate pool.

  • Microsoft's LinkedIn competes directly with ZipRecruiter for employer recruiting budgets: both charge employers to post jobs and use tools to find candidates.

  • KANZHUN LIMITED and ZipRecruiter both depend on employers paying to connect with job seekers, but their hiring-market exposure differs: Kanzhun operates in China, while ZipRecruiter focuses on the U.S.
