Company

Company overview

Valion Bio’s lead drug candidate, Entolimod, is being developed to treat acute radiation syndrome. The company holds exclusive worldwide rights licensed from Statera Biopharma for that use and is also pursuing oncology-related applications. Entolimod is not yet approved for sale. Valion expects to seek U.S. approval through the FDA Animal Rule, which allows animal studies to establish effectiveness alongside human safety trials when testing effectiveness in humans is unethical or infeasible. It is seeking relationships with government agencies that develop or buy radiation countermeasures, rather than serving an established government customer base.

Its wholly owned subsidiary, Velocity Bioworks, offers biotechnology and biopharmaceutical companies paid development, testing and manufacturing services. Its single San Antonio campus also supports Entolimod manufacturing. External customer work is intended to help cover facility costs, but has not yet generated meaningful revenue. Manufacturing must meet FDA quality standards.

Valion has wound down its former ClearUP consumer-device business and stopped its other bioelectronic development work. With drug sales dependent on approval and the service business still getting established, it expects minimal revenue and needs additional financing to continue operations and development.

Valion Bio’s prospects hinge on regulatory approval for Entolimod, potential government purchases of its radiation countermeasure, and winning outside customers for its new biologics manufacturing business.
