Universe Pharmaceuticals operates through subsidiaries in China, making medicines mainly for older people’s chronic conditions and general well-being, alongside cold and flu treatments. Its own medicines generate most of its revenue, and its signature Guben Yanling Pill supplies a particularly large share. Pharmaceutical distributors and drugstore chains are its main paying customers; it also sells to hospitals and clinics.
A smaller business, run through Universe Trade, buys and resells other manufacturers’ medicines, medical instruments and related healthcare products. China’s centralized drug procurement policy, which trades higher purchasing volumes for lower prices, puts pressure on selling prices, particularly in this resale business.
The company makes all its own products at its facilities in Jinggangshan, Jiangxi, and relies on outside raw-material suppliers, with one supplier accounting for a substantial share of purchases. Keeping products available depends on those facilities and suppliers, while manufacturing and selling medicines requires maintaining the relevant Chinese licenses and approvals.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Universe Pharmaceuticals Inc.’s results hinge on Chinese traditional-medicine demand, especially Guben Yanling Pill, and drug pricing policy; closer product rivals to watch outside this list are Taiyuan Daningtang Pharmaceuticals, Tong Ren Tang and China Resources Sanjiu.
China SXT Pharmaceuticals competes with Universe’s Chinese medicine distribution business by making and selling traditional Chinese medicine pieces to hospitals and drugstores that also buy from Universe. Watch its sales of these pieces for a read on demand among those shared healthcare buyers.
China Pharma Holdings competes with Universe’s cold-and-flu medicines and third-party drug sales by making respiratory and other medicines and selling them through Chinese drug distributors to hospitals and pharmacies. Its antiviral, infection and respiratory revenue is the line to watch for this overlap; it fell 10% in the year ended December 31, 2025.
