Company

Company overview

Dreamland Limited is a Hong Kong-based company operating under the Trendic brand. It turns licensed cartoon and film characters into themed walk-through events in Hong Kong and selected Southeast Asian markets. It now mainly funds and organizes these events itself or with local partners, paying royalties and production costs and collecting money from attendees and sponsors. Goods and ticket sales provide most of its revenue, with sponsorship also an important source.

This differs from its earlier role as a planner paid by event organizers. Dreamland also designs and supplies merchandise and manages brand events such as pop-up stores and product launches. Separately, it puts capital into some events run by other operators, receiving a share of profits or bearing a share of losses without running the events.

The business depends on audience demand, organizers providing event opportunities, and local partners helping deliver overseas events. A single major customer supplies a substantial share of revenue, and major customers have no long-term commitment to give it more business. Licensed characters may be used only in permitted territories and for approved purposes; their owners approve event elements. Obtaining licenses directly from those owners remains a longer-term plan.
