Company

Company overview

Stevanato Group S.p.A. supplies the containers and devices that pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies need to store and administer medicines. Injectable drugs account for most of its business. Customers buy glass syringes, vials and cartridges, including EZ-fill containers that Stevanato washes and sterilizes before delivery so customers can fill them with drugs. Drug containment and delivery, together with diagnostic consumables and related services, generate most revenue. A smaller business sells manufacturing machinery, such as inspection and assembly equipment, and provides maintenance and spare parts.

Stevanato often develops containers alongside customers during drug development. These containers become part of the drug’s regulatory filings, so switching suppliers can require new validation and filing amendments. Multi-year supply agreements can therefore support repeat sales throughout a drug’s lifecycle, although some contracts have no minimum purchase commitment and customers can reduce or defer orders.

Revenue depends heavily on a small group of large customers, with one customer contributing a substantial share. Demand also depends on the continued use of injectable medicines and customers’ inventory needs. Stevanato must maintain manufacturing quality and required approvals; noncompliance or loss of approvals can restrict production and sales and impede customers’ regulatory clearances.
