Company

Company overview

Smart Logistics Global Limited moves goods, mainly industrial raw materials, between locations specified by business customers in China. Its focus is long-distance, full-truckload transport for large customers with recurring shipping needs, including businesses in paper, steel, coal and food. Customers pay agreed prices for particular routes under contracts that are typically renewed through annual tenders. The company takes responsibility for providing the transport service rather than simply matching customers with truckers.

Most orders are carried out by third-party truckers, although the company also uses its own fleet. Its transportation management system helps manage shipments and lets customers track cargo and delivery status. The business therefore depends on outside truckers being available at workable rates and completing deliveries reliably. Fuel is a major transport cost, and the company cannot always pass cost increases on to customers.

One customer group supplies a substantial share of revenue, making its continued orders important. Operations also depend on the required Chinese business licenses and compliance with road rules that limit cargo vehicles’ weight and dimensions; noncompliant vehicles may need modification or replacement.

EIA Crude Oil Stocks Change (Oct/16)

Smart Logistics Global’s contracted, long-haul truck transport of industrial goods depends on fuel for its own vehicles and the truckers it uses, so US oil and fuel-stock readings can signal cost pressure it may not be able to pass on to customers.
